About this Cook
I work full time and still find time to cook. It is my stress reliever. When my husband comes home on a Saturday or Sunday and finds the kitchen a mess with piles of muffins, cakes, cookies, rice krispy treats and candies the first thing he'll say is "what's wrong?" Sometimes I just get inspired to create, other times I need to releive stress by taking control of the ingredients and manipulating them into something beautiful.
My favorite things to cook
Right now I am into using fresh home-grown garden ingredients and trying to branch out a bit into underused ingredients. It can be difficult with a VERY picky husband, but I sneak plenty of things in that he has never caught onto.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Eating the cookie dough while my mom was trying to make cookies. Thankfully she always made a double batch of dough. My mom also cooks when she is stressed...I must have learned that from her.
My cooking triumphs
Finding out that I am very skilled at cake decorating, and creative enough that friends often call me to do cakes for them.
My cooking tragedies
Starting the stove on fire when I was 13 (the morning after my sleepover party) because the oil splashed onto the burner

Pepperoni Bread
just ok. i thought we would love it because we are pepperoni pizza lovers, but it was too much bread for us. probably won't make again - I'd rather putt he effort into a pepperoni pizza

Blueberry Crumb Bars
Made exactaly as is except used frozen (I picked them fresh this past summer) blueberries. Really good and not too many ingriedents. I did have to keep it in the fridge because the berries oozed out when cut warm. Maybe next time I'll sprinkle the cornstarch on the crust layer, before I add the blueberries. Will make again! :)
