I used to collect cookbooks, but the collection got to be a little overwhelming. I love to read cookbooks, but now I just browse through allrecipes instead. I love this site! It is so convenient, and a great way to save and organize all of my favorite recipes, including some old favorites that do not appear on the site. I don't even print the recipes out. I just simply move my laptop to the kitchen counter.
My favorite things to cook
I'm usually tired after work, so I stick with simple things during the week, (or I'm sorry to say that DH and I often go out for fast food), but I like cook up a storm on the weekends, and that's when I try new recipes. I have always loved baking cakes and cookies, but I also like to experiment with barbeque recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite cooking tradition is making Christmas cookies with my grandchildren.
My cooking triumphs
My greatest cooking triumphs are when I prepare dishes that my kids and grandkids repeatedly request. There are two things that stand out; first is Scott Hibbs Whiskey Grilled Ribs. My kids and grandkids lick their lips at the mere mention of this recipe. My twelve year old granddaughter even suggested that maybe we could have ribs for Christmas dinner. The second is up is my own recipe for Rhubarb Custard Pie. Everyone always loves this. I have submitted five recipes for publication, including Grammy's Favorite Rhubarb Custard Pie, but I have been disappointed that so far none of my recipes have been published. If this recipe ever gets published, I hope you will try it.
My cooking tragedies
I have had many recipe failures and flops, but nothing that I would call a real tragedy. This is probably because I usually try a recipe before I make it for guests.
