Hi all! I'm Aaron and I freaking love to cook, bake, you name it. I work in the medical field and enjoy cooking for friends and family. I try to be as healthy as possible in my cooking, and lean more towards vegetarian cooking as I, myself am vegetarian but I do also prepare meat dishes for my loved ones that enjoy meat.
My favorite things to cook
Anything Indian, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern...I was on an Indian kick for a while and then discovered Lebanese (freaking yum!), I also love Eastern European cuisine and have found ways of making them a little kinder to the waistline. I love dessert and that is something I never try to lighten up, haha. So baking is another favorite thing of mine to do. I try to stay away from the sweets, but I sure do love watching other people enjoy fresh baked goods that I made.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Both my grandmothers were amazing cooks and I am proud to have some of their recipes. My mother is an amazing cook and I've learned mostly from her. She makes the most awesome Eggplant Parmesan...well really she makes the most amazing everything. Some of my favorite memories of food in my family were the Christmas cookie platters with the Gilmore Sour Cream Cutouts, Peanut Butter Logs, Peanut Blossoms, Mexican Wedding Cakes, homemade Peppermint Patties, and the list goes on. Every Christmas morning my mother makes Strata. Of course, delicious Corn Beef and Cabbage at St. Patricks Day. Currently, I am starting to think about traditions that I would like to start.
My cooking triumphs
Anytime the love of my life Jacob and my friends and family compliment me. My Vegetarian Pizza Casserole is a big hit as well as my Moussaka.
My cooking tragedies
I was making this really great recipe for Molasses Black Eyed Peas. Thankfully the people I served it to didn't realize I forgot to add the molasses..hahahaha. Definately more to come.
