About this Cook
I love to cook and enjoy canning all the great things from my garden. There is nothing better than opening a jar of fresh vegetables or relish in the dead of winter.
My favorite things to cook
I really enjoy cooking almost everything. Love soup in the winter and salads in the summer. Lots of grilling and outdoor parties in the summer and lots of sleding and snow sports in the winter.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Mother and Grandmother have written down their favorite recipies and now that they are gone I have the responsibility of passing the recipes down to my daughter's and grandaughters. It is so fun to read the old recipies and to see their handwriting. It brings back such good memories to all of us.
My cooking triumphs
I decided that I would try to can peppers and used an old recipe that was my grandmothers. We really didn't like them right away but after setting 8 weeks they were the best any of ous had ever tasted. I learned to be patient from this experience.
My cooking tragedies
I really cannot get the hang of a electric cook top. I decided that every tragedie was a learning experience and if the husband covered every thing in ketchup, I probably shouldn't make it again.

Spaghetti Salad I
This is a great salad because you can add almost anything and it still tastes great. I have used summer squash and that was very good. The new pepperoni minis works great in this salad

Corned Beef and Cabbage
the corned beef was so tender and the vegies were great. Used a 2lb. corned beef. my DH and I were fighting over the last piece. I thought it would be more than enough for the two of us. I guess I was wrong.
