Arthritis keeps me from many activities, but I forget all about it when I have a new recipe to try. Where I live, some women haven't used their ovens in years - I just can't imagine that! I look for receipes for two and those that have a reasonable calorie count.
My favorite things to cook
Any and all vegetables - soups - casseroles - garlic in any amount in any recipe (if it isn't there, I add it!) seafood - catfish, shrimp, scallops, swordfish, lobster - and to make - smoothies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My very favorite is in the summer when we used to have lobster all the time (my dad had lobster pots) and fresh corn. They were what were put out as snacks for us as children at the shore.
My cooking triumphs
A Christmas standing rib roast and individual Yorkshire puddings - my mom's corn oysters and Aunt Hatties tomato-cucumber salad.
My cooking tragedies
The pot of wonderful chicken stew that slipped out of my hands and ended up all over the floor. . .not a cupful left. Hot dogs and bologna sandwiches that night!
