About this Cook
I've been married to a wonderful man for 20 years and have two great kids. I have a small gift basket company and also a small online (ebay) clothing business. I recently started a blog, if you want to check it out it's http://www.thisstopwilloughby.blogspot.com/
My favorite things to cook
When it comes to cooking, I like to try new recipes and new techniques all the time. I love to get new recipes from my friends on the recipe exchange!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Most of our family cooking traditions center around birthdays and the holidays. I bring the same dishes every year for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Dinner is always at my parents house for both holidays and I always bring sweet potato casserole and green bean casserole at the request of my family. I also try to do some baking with my kids that they can give as gifts. For my childrens' birthdays I always make a chocolate cake with a chocolate fudge-like glaze.
My cooking triumphs
The most requested item that I make is definitely Country Apple Cake. I used to sell it at craft shows and I would always sell out!! Family, friends and especially my husband's co-workers ask for it all the time. Next in line would be mini-subs. I make them for my teenage son and his friends all the time. The kids rave about them.
My cooking tragedies
When my husband and I were newlyweds I tried making Chicken Teriyaki in the microwave. I got the recipe from the booklet that came with the microwave, but it came it out rock hard, black and crunchy!

Easy Paella
Excellent! A big hit, even with the kids. The only change I made was to use a chicken sausage instead of choritzo because it's what I had. Next time I make it (and there will be a next time) I will reduce the oregano to 1 tsp. because it was a little strong for my taste.

Easy Chocolate Chip Bars
A little different than a typical chocolate chip cookie, but very good. I was concerned that they might be greasy so I reduced the butter to 3/4 cup. Super fast and easy to make. Perfect if you're out of eggs, too!

Sour Cream Coffee Cake III
This was very good, but I think I would use a smaller pan next time. I found it difficult to get half of the batter to completely cover the bottom of a 9 x 13 pan. I also had to bake mine for quite a bit longer than the recipe stated.
