About this Cook
I have been married for 8 years and am a mother to 2 little boys. I work full time as an ER nurse/flight nurse but still want to serve food that is good but fast, fast, fast. My husband is in the Navy so we move frequently, which allows us to sample true regional dishes.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake--casseroles, cookies, cakes, etc. My favorite meal that I make is probably chicken parmesan. My husband's favorite dessert is white chocolate macadamian nut cookies or fudge brownie tart.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Pot luck dinners. My whole family is around 75 people. Most of us get together around Christmas time. Everybody brings one dish. I'm usually in charge of the cranberry sauce and turkey gravy. I love sampling all the different recipes and getting new ideas for my own family. My cousin and I will usually get together and make around 5 different kinds of cookies too. Christmas is truly my favorite time of the year.
My cooking triumphs
Two things come to mind: 1. when I finally found the meatloaf recipe that my husband said was just like his grandma's and 2. when my husband told someone that I make some things better than his mom.
My cooking tragedies
I was making Carolina B-B-Q in the crock pot for friends and forgot to turn it on. Friends showed up and I had nothing to serve.

Sour Cream Burgers
This was ok not the best. I kept checking to see if my burger was done because it had a weird consistency to it. My dad was doing the same. I think that it would have been better if the sour cream was cut in half. I might try it again with this modification but not any time soon.

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies IV
This is such a simple recipe for a very good cookie. My husband HATES it when I make these because he can't keep his hand out of the cookie jar. I only gave it 4 stars because I can never get it to yield 4 dozen. When I make a variety of cookies, these are always the first to go.

Chicken Caesar Pasta
Very good with a few changes. I used leftover chicken (marinade for chicken recipe) and cooled the pasta prior to adding to salad. Also, used pre-packaged salad and cherry tomatoes to make life simple. It was all thrown together in a snap. My 5 year old asked for seconds. I served it with crusty bread and, all-in-all, was a very fulfilling meal. Thanks for sharing.
