Very good, needs a little playing with. I sauteed the carrots with 1 onion in evoo and garlic b4 adding to the soup. Also added lots of basil and oregano. Turned out fantastic! Thanks!

Maryland Crab Cakes II

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2009
Great crab cakes. I (like others) replaced the hot sauce w/Old Bay cause I can't imagine any type of seafood w/o at least a little Old Bay on it ;). I also cut the calories by cutting out the egg yolk and using lo-cal mayo. Broiling with a little shot of Pam was a super idea. They had a nice crunchy outer crust and were cooked perfectly on the inside. Thanks for the post!

Chinese Chicken Rice Salad

Reviewed: May 4, 2009
I think this is good BUT with some changes. I used long grain and wild rice, added garlic, baby spinach and crushed red pepper. I also replaced 1 tbsp of the EVOO with sesame oil. IMO - the 1st day it is not that good at all but after sitting in the fridge overnight it was better. Thanks for the post.

Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
Very Good - I am home on this rainy cold day with my son who has the flu. I made this recipe with what I had on hand and it was great. I think with the addition of the spinach and celery that the recipe calls for it would be nearly perfect!! My changes.... Home-made tomato sauce to replace diced. Left out the spinach/celery because I didn't have any. I did add some celery seed. I also took some other reviewers advice and used veg broth in place of the water. Thanks for the recipe!!

Fresh Herbed Halibut

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2009
This is a delish, quick and really easy way to prepare Halibut. I managed to get fresh Halibut at the market today and wanted to stay away from recipies with lots of cream or cheese. This was the perfect one for me. My hubby and the kids all agree, we will definately make this again - Thanks!!!!!!!

Delicious Raspberry Oatmeal Cookie Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2009
In no way did these turn out like bars at all. I did use whole wheat flour so maybe that was it but they were more like rasp jelly crumble or crisp than cookie bars. The taste is fantastic but a little too buttery for me. I will try again with white flour and much less butter. Thanks for the recipe!!

Hearty Mixed Bean Stew with Sausage

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2009
My hubby and I thought this was pretty good. I wasn't really that crazy about the sundried tomatoes in it. They have a sweet taste to them that we thought didn't really go with it. We both agreed that if we make this again that diced toms would work better. I did add a pretty large head of chopped kale about 20 minutes before it was done. Thanks for the post.

Russian Green Bean and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2009
I REALLY wanted to love this soup because I LOVE all of the ingredients. I didn't ~ I can't actually say it is bad because we ate it for dinner but I can't say it was good either. I tried to think of it as if I was at at restaurant ... Would I order it again? Most likely not. Sorry!!

Sesame Green Bean Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2009
OK so I am torn on how to rate this recipe. It has LOTS of potential but as written it is just 3 stars. IMO ~ It definately needs crushed red pepper, fresh minced ginger and fresh minced garlic. I also think it is a little too much oil so next time I will cut back a little. With these changes and some fresh chopped green onions to top it off it is a KILLER 5 star recipe. Thanks for the post!!

Andrea's Pasta Fagioli

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2009
Very Good soup. My 7 year old son made this by himself with the exception of some onion chopping help. Super easy to make and I usually have the ingredients. We used fresh basil since we had it on hand and home-made tomato sauce from last nights dinner. Otherwise followed exactly. Next time I might add some spinach or kale and a little more garlic. Thanks for the post. My son is really proud of himself!!

Lebanese-Style Red Lentil Soup

KILLER SOUP!!!! I love this. It is completely simple to make and the taste is amazing. A tiny bit too hot for my heat wimpy hubby but that is easy to fix for next time. My only change was to add about 4 stalks of celery to the onion and garlic sautee. Love this ~ Thank you!!!!!

Scalloped Cabbage with Fennel and Cranberries

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2009
Good Recipe. Not an all time favorite but good in a pinch and very easy to make. I used real cranberries instead of dried. I do think it is missing something but I can't think of what it would be. I look forward to seeing what other reviewers add to make it their own.

Monkey Bread I

I made this for my Bunco party. It was such a huge hit. Actually it didn't even make it to the dessert table. The girls were picking at it all night and sadly by the time dessert came around the monkey bread was gone and nobody had room for any of the other desserts. =] Everyone went home with the recipe!! Thanks for the post!!

Cranberry, Apple, and Fresh Ginger Chutney

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2008
Really, Really Good!! BUT... I think it works best as a cranberry sauce. I was looking for an actual chutney to serve as an appetizer and this was a little too over the top alone. I DO think it will be great with Thanksgiving dinner & I will definately on making it again!! UPDATE: OK so my bad!! It really does need to sit over night to chill and firm up a little. Next day = 5 Stars!! YUM-O
