About this Cook
I am a vegetarian, my husband is not. I try to create a vegetarian version of most meals I cook for him.
My favorite things to cook
I like learning to cook new foods. Right now I am working on getting tofu right.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Traditional American home cooked meals. Exotic vegetarian meals.
My cooking triumphs
I'm getting good at cooking two meals (meat and veg) every night and having everything on the table at the same time.
My cooking tragedies
I tried bbqing some Veat (fake chicken breast) on the grill. The dog wouldn't even eat it. It smelled like burning hair.

Russian Mushroom and Potato Soup
This soup was ok, it was pretty bland. It tasted like cream of mushroom and cream of potato soup combined. This will be a good alternative when I don't want to use the canned versions in other recipes. Not too impressive alone.

Fresh Pea Soup
good flavor and texture. mine didn't turn out 'velvety', but maybe my strainer isn't fine enough. nice way to use my overgrown snow peas from the garden.
