About this Cook
I am a mother of two, my husband is in the US Coast Guard. We move around a lot. I started cooking when I married my husband, I guess you can say I forced myself to. I wanted my family to eat homecook meals like how my parents raised me on. With allrecipes.com, it has been such a wonderful experience for me to try new recipes here that are incredibly good! In my spare time, I enjoy playing with my kids, reading historical fiction and KJV bible, outdoor activities and trying new recipes.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook southern food, asian, mexican, italian and desserts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom would always cook for us (we hardly eat out), she passed this tradition on to me and now I'm passing it on to my daughter. I grew up eating fish and lots of vegetables. Since my husband is all-american and I'm cambodian. We switch back and forth on our culture and sometime merge the two!
My cooking triumphs
I've learned to make better italian dishes just because of allrecipes!
My cooking tragedies
Baking cookies that came out so hard that it nearly broke my grandpa fragile tooth.

Sandy's Chocolate Cake
This was fantastic, my husband request this for his birthday now..I've made it for my 5 year old. I was nervous with the boiling water part, but everything turned out great. I put the cake in the fridge to let it sit so it wouldn't mold fast in florida; but you shouldn't. Let it sit at room temperature a couple days then move it to the fridge. Cake harden in the fridge.

Black Beans and Rice
This dish is great...with the modification suggested on here. Diced tomatoes, garlic salt, lemon and more spices. Take the suggestion on here so you don't have a pan of plain black beans and rice.

Garden Pasta Salad
