About this Cook
I am a small town girl at heart who loves cooking and baking with "real food and ingredients" as much as I can. I have a wonderful hubby who is willing to try any of my latest recipes and experiments. We have recently expanded our family and now have a wonderful son named Dane and a beautiful daughter named Maddie. We also have one dog (who loves when I cook so she can scoop up all the crumbs off the floor) and two adorable cats. My favourite days of the week are the weekends when I get to make a huge breakfast and enjoy it over a few cups of coffee with my hubby. I am also looking forward to having a hand in being a cook/baker as a mom!
My favorite things to cook
Breakfast!!! Scones, muffins, pancakes, waffles, quiches, egg scrambles and french toast. I enjoying making absolutely everything from scratch - including bread, dinners with homemade pasta and sauces, slow roasts...
My favorite family cooking traditions
Big hearty breakfast, good coffee, homemade bread and cinnamon buns, fresh squeezed orange juice.
My cooking triumphs
I prepared a cannelloni dish with pasta handmade from scratch. It took me 3 hours to prepare the pasta, the filling, the sauce and then put it all together. It was the most fabulous valentines gift I made for my sweet hubby!
My cooking tragedies
I one time tried a "healthy" approach to a sugar cookie recipe. I tried using mostly whole wheat flour (instead of white). They sort of tasted like dog biscuits. (Good thing I have a dog!) I realized that "healthy" and "sugar cookies" just can't be used in the same sentence.

Garlic and Basil Goat Cheese
This was my first time making any kind of cheese, and it turned out wonderfully! I will definitely be making this again. I followed another review that said to bring the milk to 195 degrees. I couldn't find any cheesecloth at my local grocery store so I used coffee filters lined in a metal strainer and that worked perfectly. Can't wait to try some more herb varieties.

Chocolate Cornstarch Pudding
This is delicious! I used more cocoa because I like dark chocolate. I didn't find it too thick like other reviews mentioned - but I had that in mind while I cooked it so I made sure not to cook it too long. I also stored it with plastic wrap directly on the top of the pudding so you don't get that yucky pudding skin while it cools.

Dilled Green Beans
Yum! Goes wonderfully with cheesy deviled eggs and cornbread. Tastes like a chef salad with the eggs, I recommend it!
