Fruity Sweet and Sour Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2009
It's pretty sweet! My husband enjoyed it, but I just thought it was okay. This does taste good with eggrolls, but I'm looking for maybe a recipe similar to this, but maybe use a tomato sauce or ketchup next time. (trying to duplicate a local chinese restaurants flavor) As far as the directions, I thought I messed up, but it turned out fine. I just took all 6 ingredients and combined them at the same time and cooked them on low, stirring constantly, until it turned thick. Thanks for a good start to what I was looking for! :)

Fried Mozzarella Cheese Sticks

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2009
Yep, just make sure they are coated twice!! Also, we think the sticks should be cut in half previous to coating/cooking. Better finger sized.

Dill, Feta and Garlic Cream Cheese Spread

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2009
I agree with most reviewers on this one. Too thick, too garlic-y. Add sour cream, lose at least 1 clove of garlic. Good basic flavor though!! Just needs tweeking to your tastes.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies II

These came out very dry. Not sure if it was due to me overcooking them, or the recipe instructions. Regardless..I will find a different recipe for these. Sorry!

Toasted Garlic Bread

I went light with the oregano and garlic, but will increase them a bit for the next time I make this! Good side bread for any meal!!

Tuna Noodle Casserole III

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2009
This was pretty good for a basic Tuna Noodle Casserole recipe! My family didn't rave about it, but I will say my son had 3 servings and the whole dish was eaten by the time dinner was over! I added 1/3 cup milk, 1/3 cup sour cream and 1/3 cup cheddar cheese, simply because the ingredients sounded like it would be pretty bland without these. I also topped it with some broken up potato chips.

Grilled Flat Iron Steak with Blue Cheese-Chive Butter

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2009
This was restaurant quality meat!! Easy recipe but tasted like I slaved all day! Followed the directions exactly and my husband and I absolutely love the consistency of the steak, mixed with the melty blue cheese/chive butter atop the slices! Excellent recipe & I highly recommend this for that "special night" with that special someone! They will be impressed!

Honey Roasted Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2009
These turned out WAY better than I expected! No one needed/wanted to put ketchup or salt on these! They do need 3 Tablespoons of honey AND they need to cook in the oven for about an hour. I used 12 small red potatoes, quartered.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2009
Followed recipe, except I toned down the amt of italian sausage. I love this sauce!!!! I was skeptical about all the tomato "Stuff" that was in it and was fearful of it being bland. It was not. I think next time, I will layer it differently, so there are more sauce layers. My family enjoyed this! Thanks!

Lemon Poppy Seed Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2009
Made this exactly per the recipe. The Bundt fell a little after I turned it out onto the plate and part of the cake was "thick". Still a good cake tho and this will be eaten. I'll just try it again. :)

Gyro Steak Salad (with Tzatziki dressing)

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2009
I made steak/gyro sandwiches from this recipe, but only used the steak marinade idea for the meat and then used the Tzatziki dressing recipe from this site. EXCELLENT choice for these sandwiches! BTW..I used sirloin and not flank/skirt.

Tzatziki Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2009
Considering I've never made this or ATE it before, I had to make this according to what my husband says it tastes like. LOL I sorta integrated a couple recipes from here, but this was the one I followed. I didn't use FRESH dill, I used an english cucumber & I sub'd sour cream. My husband likes it but says it's missing some "tang". We'll figure it out, but this is a good beginning recipe and was excellent on our gyro/steak flatbread sandwiches!

French Dip Sandwiches

My husband thought this was great, but we both agree that next time, we'll replace 1/2 the soy sauce with worcestershire sauce. A tad too salty. We made these with ciabatta rolls. Mmmmm!

Neapolitan Cookies I

FREEZE THIS DOUGH BEFORE YOU TRY TO CUT IT! These were pretty good, but more importantly, people are very impressed at seeing a cookie that looks like a slice of neopolitan ice cream! I would love to find a way to make these softer.

Caramel Apple Roll-Ups

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2009
I think the recipe calls for too much cinnamon inside the cream cheese filling. Plus, I might cook the apples a little bit in a pan before adding, so they'd be softer. My husband loved these, however, we both agreed they taste better cooled off! :) We will re-use this recipe, with a few switch-ups! Thanks!

Sweet and Sour Dipping Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2009
This is so-so. I didn't have pineapple juice, but had a can of crushed pineapple, so I added that and then strained the pineapple out after cooking. I don't care for the ketchup taste, so I might switch to tomato sauce next time. I didn't like how this tasted alone, but once dipped into an eggroll, it's pretty tasty!

Awesome Egg Rolls

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2009
We split this recipe into 2 bowls, one with 4 oz. shrimp and the other with a shredded slow-cooked porksteak. Skipped the onion and celery & added more bean sprouts. We didn't care for the shrimp ones at ALL, but the pork ones were heavenly!! Even my son, who claims to dislike chinese food, ate 3!! Thanks for an excellent new recipe for our family!
