Pumpkin Bars I

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2009
I am a preschool teacher and I made these with the kid s.It is a very good recipe to make with kids, one mixing bowl and easy to make. We put in vanilla, to me everything almost needs van. and added more cinnamon. It is more cake like, then bars like everyone has said but I tell people that before I give them the recipe or give them the bars. At school we left out the nuts, since it's a nut free zone and I didn't use any frosting. They were a big hit, all the children asked me to give their parents the recipe. All the parents who tasted it, loved it. I'm making it for a potluck today and will add nuts but no frosting. It's easier and tastes good. One day I might try the choc. chips.

Ryan's Favorite Beans

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2009
I took a chance and made this for the first time for a pot luck. By the end of the night the beans were all eaten.People were saying how good they were and some asked for the recipe. It was a big hit.I'm going to make it for the next pot luck. It is easy to make.I put in another 1/2 c onions and next time will put more in.The same with the bacon, I took the advice of your readers and put in more bacon but next time I will make a whole pound and maybe add more beef.I found it was easier to cook the bacon after I cut it in half, then cooked it, since it wasn't a frying pan.I cooked it crispy. It was also easier to cook it after the pan was really hot and more bacon grease was in it after some bacon already cooked.I added a little more br. sugar, not a lot. The rest of the recipe I followed as it was written. It was delicious.

Peanut Butter Bars IV

Reviewed: May 20, 2006
I made this recipe with 4, four year olds and it was easy . We all loved them.I halfed the recipe and didn't put the choc. chips on top just baked it in. I misread it and put 3/4 cups chips in instead of halfing that also. I put in more vanalli. I was suprised that it didn't have anything to make them rise ,uncertain how that would work, but it was good.I put in 2 eggs instead of 1&1/2 We'd make it again.

Lemon Yogurt Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2006
I thought the muffins were very good and moist. They took a little longer to cook then 18 min. Also I agree with others that I just got by with making 12, no way you can get 24 out of them. I added more zest and juice and a bit more sugar to make sure they weren't tart,( next time less sugar, wasn't needed) since I made them at my preschool with 6 3-5 yr. olds. THey were easy to make and were loved. But I was suprised that no one else said, that the spices over took the flavor. You really hardly could taste the lemon at all. Next time I'll try them without the 3 spices, and add van. and maybe more of the lemon ingrediants. We didn't put on the glaze(frosting) I made them again at my preschool and more then doubled the lemon juice and zest. I put in the original amount of sugar and left out ginger, cinn. and nutmeg. Everyone loved them, including me.I did put in vanalli.

Delicious Artichoke Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2005
I made this for a potluck. Everyone loved it. I used store bought grated parm. cheese mixed with store bought shaved parm. I added a little minced garlic (from a jar ). You can use fresh or powdered garlic, not too much so the it doesn't overpower. It's pretty salty, I didn't add salt. Might need to bake another 5-10 min. Check at 20 min.I only found 13& 3/4 oz. If doubled put in a little less mayo and s. cream. I used quarted artichokes and chopped them just a little and mixed every thing at the same time. It's a keeper

Honey Cake III

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2004
This is a good recipe to make with children. I made this with preschoolers and it was easy, delicious and moist. I didn't sift it, just mixed it together. I made muffins instead of cake. It took about 25 min. until a toothpick came out clean. At first it seemed too moist but it came out fine when cooked long enough.I put extra cinn. in and 1/2 to 1 teaspoon van. I didn't measure the van. Everyone love it. I made it for the Jewish New Year.

Graham Cracker Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2004
This a good recipe to make with kids. I made 18 servings not 10 and used 2 eggs instead of 1 and 3/4. I did it with a preschool class and let them crush the graham crackers. We used double zip lock bags, made sure the air was out and small wooden hammers and rollers. They had fun. The muffins were delicious. We added cin. and vanilla and I'm not sure how much but we weren't stingy.Everyone loved them.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2004
This was a very moist tastey recipe. I did add more then 1t cinn and more then 1t vanalli and 1T milk. The milk wasn't necessary and it could have used a bit more cinn.. I made this with preschoolers and it worked, it was easy for them to mix and measure and they loved mashing the bananas ( which don't have to all be finely mashed). I made muffins instead since the bread took to long. They took 12- 15 min., when toothpick comes out clean and were a big hit. 1lb or 3 med bananas makes about 1 cup mashed
