I'm happily married to Norm, my high school sweetheart for the past 7 years. We've been blessed with 3 wonderful children ages 6, 4, and 1. I stay at home and am enjoying my first year of homeschooling my daughter. It is a fabulous experience! I'm very involved in my church and now my daughters homeschool group. In the summer I love gardening and using all the produce in my cooking.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking with my kids and for my husband we bake once or twice a week and send treats to work with Norm or bring something to bible study.
I like trying new dinner recipes and experimenting, right now I'm in a slow-cooker phase I visit Allrecipes at least weekly to get new recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving has got to be my favorite! I host at my house and my parents and sister and sometimes others come. I've gotten pretty good at doing the whole meal in my less than spacious kitchen, everyone travels so it all has to be cooked in my home.
I also love baking Christmas cookies with my kids for friends, neighbors, church. I have many memories of baking with my mom and want to pass those down to my children.
My cooking triumphs
Probably my Thanksgiving dinners. I do a wonderful brined turkey, cornbread stuffing, sweet potato casserole (from the site), corn soufle, the only thing that really varies is the desert I make. This year it was grandma ople's apple pie (always a hit!),and a pumpkin dump cake.
My cooking tragedies
For a year or so while dating my husband I was a vegan (no meat, dairy, eggs,etc..) and I decided to surprise him with a tofu cheesecake. It looked beautiful, didn't crack or anything, he thought it was a normal cheesecake until he took a bite! I wouldn't eat it either, it was pretty bad! He ended up eating the can of cherry pie filling by itself!
