Marshmallow Fondant

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2009
Although this didn't give me a pure white fondant like the rolled fondant recipe (it was a little "off"), it was *so* easy to use that this is now my favorite of the three fondant recipes I've tried. There was no ripping, no tearing, and the fondant accepted color very easily. It was easy to roll out with a little cornstarch underneath, and didn't taste overly sweet. *Excellent* recipe!

Pizza Crust I

This is *fantastic* dough and is now my go-to recipe for homemade pizza. Couldn't be easier and couldn't taste better!

Chocolate Cookie Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2009
This was a nice, easy chocolate frosting, but it was very light on the chocolate taste. The recipe also doesn't make very much -- I had to double it.

General Tsao's Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2009
This was excellent and the whole family loved it. I halved the cornstarch and used a mixture of cornstarch and flour for the chicken as other reviews had suggested. I will definitely be making this again!

Sweet Potato Pie I

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2009
Great tasting pie, however it wasn't as 'smooth' as my pumpkin pie, so next time I think I will try pureeing it instead of mixing with my hand mixer. Yummy!

Chocolate Caramel Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2009
These were just okay. I'm always leery of making recipes using a boxed cake mix because the end result usually tastes a little bit artificial to me, and this recipe is no exception. I love the idea of filling a brownie with chocolate chips and caramel, but it would have been a thousand times better with a "real", from-scratch brownie recipe rather than a boxed cake mix.

Rolled Fondant

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2009
This was extremely easy to make-- I made it all in one bowl using a pyrex heat-proof bowl as my double boiler. I also substituted corn syrup for the glucose. Best part of all: it tastes great. This will definitely be my go-to fondant recipe from now on.

Whipping Cream Pound Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2009
I made this in two loaf pans and added a little salt because of other reviewers' suggestions. It's not terribly moist, but not dry, either. It's very tasty and the dense crumb was very easy to sculpt for my son's birthday cake.

Lemon Blueberry Drop Scones

A fluffier texture for a scone than I prefer, but very delicious. The kids ate 'em up!

Chicken Crunch

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2009
This recipe was just okay; nothing outstanding. It's definitely a kid-pleasing dish because it's basically chicken cooked in soup; but, for me, it lacked something.

Perfumed Coconut Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2009
Okay, so I made the cake and was trimming it in preparation to frost it, and I was nibbling the trimmings the whole while. I thought the flavor, texture, and moistness of the cake was *fantastic.* Then I frosted it and decorated it. Frankly, the cake tastes *way* better than the frosting. It has a very pleasing, mild coconut flavor that other cakes have failed to deliver. However, the icing is achingly sweet (I did leave out the coconut) and, I think, doesn't pair well with the cake (just my opinion). That being said, the kids loved it and it's completely gone two days later. Five star cake, three star frosting.

Chicken Fried Chicken

Reviewed: May 30, 2009
I made the recipe as written, except dipped the chicken in flour first as other reviewers suggested, and cut the breasts into strips instead of frying the breast whole. Absolutely *awesome*! So flavorful! My daughter and her friends ate almost the whole batch and left one strip for me. Definitely a recipe I will make again ... and again!

Delightful Apple Spice Muffins

Reviewed: May 27, 2009
The texture of these muffins was great and they're still incredibly moist a day and a half after baking. However, I felt the taste was really lacking. It seems other reviewers felt the same way, since most of them made some pretty drastic changes to the recipe. I followed the recipe exactly, and as it's written it's pretty bland and forgettable. Perhaps I will try some of the changes in the future.

Cinnamon-Raisin Granola

Reviewed: May 23, 2009
I just finished off a huge bowl of this GREAT granola! I wanted a nice, basic granola recipe without nuts, and this was just what I was looking for. It's delicious, better than store-bought, and made the kitchen smell fantastic while baking.

Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: May 21, 2009
This was just okay. My three-year-old loved it and asked for seconds, but I found it way too salty and the flavor reminiscent of a salisbury steak TV dinner.

Orange Breakfast Rolls

Reviewed: May 21, 2009
These were a scrumptious alternative to a cinnamon roll. I made a 1 lb. recipe of white bread dough in my bread machine, rolled it out and spread it with the orange filling (doubled). I rolled it up jelly-roll style, cut into rolls, let them rise, and baked them. So yummy! The kids *loved* them!

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

We really enjoyed this chicken. It was all that the title promised: sweet, sticky, and spicy. It tasted wonderful over a bed of rice and there were no leftovers. Yum!
