Chicken Cordon Bleu II

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
Really fantastic. I made a few slight changes. I only used 3 chicken breasts. Used 2 ham slices each for them. And used 3 tbs of margarine instead of butter. That's it and it came out delicious. I think the sauce is the true star of this recipe though. Creamy with all of the flavors of the chicken, ham, cheese and wine.

Four Cheese Macaroni

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2009
I didn't use any velveta/processed cheese b/c my husband doesn't like it. SO just doubled up on the other cheeses. The taste came out great, but there was WAY too much butter/oil. You could tilt the pot over and it would just pour out.

French Silk Chocolate Pie I

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
Only getting 4 stars b/c I had to change it slightly. I used 4tbs of cocoa powder instead of the baking chocolate b/c the stuff is just a pain to work with and I didn't want to wait for it to cool. I also added both eggs in at the same time b/c I forgot to only add in 1 at a time, but it was fine. The instructions should also make it very clear to keep mixing until the sugar has desolved. I used a handheld mixer w/ a whisk attachment. It took about 20minutes on high speed for the sugar to desolve completely. It tastes heavenly though. Very yum.

Southern Spicy Fried Chicken

I didn't like this recipe at all, but my husband did. I love spicy southern fried chicken, but this just didn't taste right to me.

Pizza Dough I

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2009
Tasteless and WAY too dense. I even added some brushed on melted butter, herbs to the dough as it was being mized, and it still came out extremely bland. Plus, as was mentioned in most of the negative comments, the texture of it is just way off. I won't be making this again.

Souvlaki

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2009
Only getting 4 stars b/c I did as the top reviewer suggested. I didn't add the soy sauce. To compensate for the lack of it, I did add about a teaspoon of salt. I also used this on boneless skinless chicken breasts cubed. And it was SO good. It had the perfect flavor I was hoping for. I plan on making this again next week using pork :)

Tzatziki Sauce I

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2009
Only 4 stars b/c I did have to change some things. I used 1/2tbs of dry dill. Added a half of a chopped cucumber. And only 1 garlic clove sauted to take the bite out of it. Also did not add the olive oil and let the plain yogurt drain for about an hour and a half in some coffee filters as was suggested in another review. I did add a little too much salt to it, but it still came out refreshing and yum.

I didn't like this recipe at all. Maybe I did something wrong, but all I could taste was the butter.

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2009
VERY tasty. Although the cooking time for mine was more in the 12-15min range. I did end up baking them a little too long (about 17mins) so they came out crunchy, but they still tasted fantastic and the cookie itself was really light. I still have half of the cookie dough left that I froze and plan to fix probably tomorrow. :)

Marinated Pork Loin

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2009
Fantastic!! I made the marinade last night for a Halloween party today. I used the exact measurements in this recipe for a 4lb pork tenderloin. Honestly, I was hesitant on it at first. The smell of it as it simmered was SO vinegary. I just didn't see how it would taste good. AND the next day, I forgot to bring the rest of the marinade to brush on to it as they were cooking. But, the flavor was fantastic. Nice and sweet and not too salty at all. I only had regular chicken broth, but it all came out tasting fantastic. I think next time I'm going to add a little more cayenne. Just a great marinade that I will most definitely be making again!

Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2009
I made this recipe with 2 changes. I used 3 boneless skinless chicken breasts and added a tablespoon of sherry to help tenderize the meat. It was extremely sweet and tasty. I used an electric grill to cook up the breasts. I plan on making this again for tomorrow and we'll be using a charcoal grill. I'm sure it's going to be even better :D

Not very good at all. I even added hoisin & oyster sauce, more salt, & pepper. There was still barely any flavor to this dish.

Szechwan Shrimp

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
I made this the other day using velvet chicken instead of shrimp. I didn't think it was that bad, but my husband did not care for it at all. Other than the shrimp, I followed the recipe, but doubled the sauce. The thickness of the sauce was a bit too much, and the flavor came out very vinegary/sour. And it wasn't hot at all.

Pretty Chicken Marinade

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2009
I made this tonight and it turned out just ok. Couldn't use the charcoal grill, so just had to use the electric one. I think the taste would've been better on the charcoal. Doing it on the electric just made it smell and kinda taste like bologna. As I said, the taste wasn't bad, just not what I was expecting. Will try it again though when we can actually use the outside grill :) Also think I'm going to use only 1 tbs of the liquid smoke. I think 2 is just slightly too much for my taste.

Lemon Cream Cupcakes

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2009
Very tasty! Just made these today. Didn't have a lemon, so just used 1.5 teaspoons of lemon extract instead in place of the zest. Very yummy! The frosting however didn't exactly turn out like frosting. It became very liquidy and resembled more of an icing. It's still tastes really good though. I think zest in it would've been a bit too much lemon for my taste.

Creamy Pesto Shrimp

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2009
I've made this recipe at least 5 times now and love it every time. So creamy and good! It would be a more frequent item in our home except that my husband doesn't like shrimp very much. BOO lol. I've made it with chicken though and the sauce and everything tastes just as great. I do add some salt to it though. Other than that.... fantastic!

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: May 28, 2009
Very yummy! Did have to use white chocolate swirled chips instead of just chocolate (couldn't find regular semi choco chips)... but the cake still came out extremely tastey. Will have to try it w/ other cake mix/pudding combos :D Baking time for me was about 65 mins in a bundt pan.

Jay's Jerk Chicken

Reviewed: May 27, 2009
First time I made this recipe, I used half an onion, added garlic, used 1 whole jalapeno and 1 jalapeno w/ no seeds, and reduced the soy sauce to 1/2. I also baked the chicken since we didn't have a grill at the time. The aroma was amazing, but the taste wasn't very good. The cloves was just WAY too overpowering, plus it wasn't spicy at all. Made this again, minus the cloves. Also used 3 jalapenos w/ seeds, used the full amount of soy sauce and also added about 3 tbs of garlic. Marinated 3 boneless chicken breasts overnight (could've marinated a ton more b/c there was a lot of it). Grilled them, and... just man... best, juiciest chicken I've ever had. The 3 jalapenos made the spicyness perfect. Not too bad, but still had a good kick to it. Just YUMMY!

Whipped Cream

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2009
I used about 1.5 cups of heavy cream and had to end up using 4 tablespoons of sugar to make this sweet enough for my liking. B/c I had to keep mixing it, it did end up looking very clumpy, but still tasted very smooth and yummy :) Freezing it for later use :D

Best-Ever Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2009
I only made the cake part of the recipe and lemme tell ya, it's YUMMY. It's a tad bit crumbly, but the flavor and texture of the cake is very good and moist. I had to shoo away husband from the cake batter b/c he was eating it all up! It's really very yum! I've been looking for a simple GOOD cake recipe and this definitely is both of those. It took around 42 mins for mine to bake. EDIT: I've now made this cake about 5 times and each time it's still wonderful. No whipped topping still, but I'll def make it next time :) Have it in the oven right now baking. Added about a half cup of chopped walnuts to the batter. Can't wait to see how it tastes!
