Newly single, I'm here looking for easy stuff for one! I've spent 30 years in kitchens, both at home and as a cook in both supermarket deli's and nursing homes
My favorite things to cook
Anything in a crockpot, anything chocolate
I love to cook very fancy meals, and enjoy plain cooking almost as much.
I love stuffed portabellas, but I'm not above using cream of mushroom soup either.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Many years ago I suddenly decided that I didn't want to spend Christmas cooking. In a burst of understanding my husband suggested corned beef and cabbage, done in the crock pot.(His favorite of course.) Everyone enjoyed it so much that is now our tradtional Christmas Dinner. Every holiday, even minor ones, seem to have at least one dish that my family expects.
My cooking triumphs
Christmas cookies. I use to bake up to 20 dozen a year for neighbor and teacher gifts. The secret was to make a few doughs every weekend and freeze them til needed.
The only ones I wouldn't do were roll and cut sugar cookies. That was work !
My cooking tragedies
A garlic lemon pie. Do you really want to know? I mistook garlic powder for cream of tartar.. the rest as they say was history.
