About this Cook
I love cooking for my family and friends. I enjoy trying new recipes. I think that it is always good to expand on your skills by challenging yourself in the kitchen.
My favorite things to cook
I like to challenge myself when it comes to cooking, but somedays you just aren't in the mood to cook. On those days, I try to cook something in the crockpot or take a meal I made before and froze out of the freezer to cook. I am ALWAYS on the lookout for a new recipe to try that sounds delicious. My favorite things to cook are anything that tastes delicious and has people wanting more.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I absolutely LOVE Thanksgiving and Christmas. I start planning out my Thanksgiving menu in the begining of October every year...I tend to go a little overboard with all of the food I make. I cannot wait until my son is older so I can bake cookies and candies with him for the holidays. Hopefully, he'll enjoy my cooking as much as my husband does.
My cooking triumphs
Getting through a successful Thanksgiving evey year. I tend to go overboard and make 15+ dishes. I never have an identical menu so it always adds a little excitement to the kitchen. I'm constantly on my feet checking out all the different things I have cooking; it gets a little hectic at times, but I wouldn't have it any other way!
My cooking tragedies
Because I'm constantly trying new recipes I always have tragedies. Unfortunately, I am very strict when it comes to recipes, I try to follow them to a "T". Whenever something doesn't turn out the way I hoped it would, I consider it a tragedy. I'm kind of anal when it comes to cooking, but I guess, in some respects, thats what makes me a good cook.

Holiday Chicken Salad
I'm pregnant and have been craving a good chicken salad for the past few days. As soon as I saw this recipe I knew I had to make it. Luckily, it turned out delicious!!! I cubed 3 whole boneless skiless chicken breasts and cooked them in a little olive oil. I seasoned them in salt, pepper, and garlic powder. I did not add green peppers but did add grapes and an apple. I didn't really measure anything out except for the mayo (Miracle Whip in my case) and just added the ingrediants until it looked good. I also did not add anymore salt or pepper (since I had seasoned the chicken breasts with it) and only added a dash of paprika. I also omitted the seasoning salt as it didn't really sound appetizing. I let it sit for about an hour in the fridge and then ate it on a crossiant with some lettuce. This will now be the ONLY chicken salad I make...ever!!! It was to die for!!!
