I am a mum with kids grown and flown, a husband with sweet teeth (yep, plural). He loves my cooking and in all our life together has only not liked one recipe (I didn't like it either).
We live on a farm and have chooks and ducks as well as a huge vege garden and orchard so I like finding recipes that make the most of our supplies.
My favorite things to cook
Cakes and desserts come out on top, closely followed by 'one pot wonders' which basically means soups, stews, stir fries etc. I also enjoy making jams and preserves of all kinds.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandma, being a farmers daughter, was a shearers cook part of her life so I have access to some wonderfully imaginative (huge) meals and other recipes there. My other grandma had a tough time of it in the depression so I also have some economical and also imaginative recipes.
Mum and I regularly go through each others recipes and compare notes.
My cooking triumphs
Rosella jam, tapioca pudding, soups and stews slow cooked on the combustion stove.
My cooking tragedies
The recipe that was so bad that neither hubby nor I ate it. I cannot even remember the recipe now (nor do I want to).
