I made this for Christmas presents (kept some for us!) and everyone loved it! I did substitute fat free half & half for most, but not all of the cream, and only used 1-1/3 cups of whiskey (Canadian on sale, not Irish). Also, I doubled the vanilla and left out the almond (personal preference, I hate almond flavoring). It's great!

Pralines, Coffee and Cream Cake

I think of this as a cake for grown-ups. Its flavors are a bit sophisticated and complex. Always a hit - people remember it.

Duck and Fontina Pizza With Rosemary and Caramelized Onions

We love this! I use Pizza Dough II from this site and bake at 500 on a pizza stone. Also I use cooked chicken instead of duck. Try it, it's different and so good.

Mendi's Favorite Orzo

This is great - it's our favorite orzo too! I am the only one in the family who likes mushrooms, so I leave them out. I use frozen mixed veg, with no other changes. Yum!

Vegetarian White Bean 'Alfredo' with Linguine

This is very good - my kids really like it. I made it twice so far, and the second time I pureed all of the beans (the kids didn't eat the whole beans the first time). Also I used regular 2 percent milk instead of soy and it tasted better to us. This is going into regular rotation!

In-a-Pinch Ketchup

This week I read about high fructose corn syrup and mercury contamination, as if it isn't bad enough already. I went home and tossed out my ketchup and BBQ sauce, then started searching for home made substitutes -- this is perfect! I did follow others advice and used only 3 Tbs. of brown sugar. Also, I used cider vinegar. It is so easy to make with ingredients I already have on hand that there is no need to ever buy ketchup again.

Melanie's Beef Barley Soup

This is a good base recipe. I left out the mushrooms since my family doesn't like them and added more carrots and more veg. I also used home made BEEF stock -- certainly chicken stock would only detract from the beef flavor I was looking for. Also, I think the recipe should state whether to use regular barley or the quick cooking kind. I used regular myself.

Unbelievably Awesome Barbeque Chicken Pizza

The name says it all! This IS unbelievably awesome. The only thing I do different is that I use pre-cooked chicken strips and I mix them with the BBQ sauce (Sweet Baby Ray's) and sesame oil. I use one-third of the Pizza Dough II recipe(it makes 3 crusts) and bake it on a pizza stone at 500 degrees. Yum!

Baked Potato Pizza

I used light sour cream and one-third of the Pizza Dough II recipe (that recipe makes 3 crusts), then baked it on a pizza stone at 500 degrees for about 8 min. Otherwise I followed the recipe exactly. It came out wonderfully. Actually it was even better the next day at breakfast.

Roquefort Pear Salad

This is a wonderful and different salad, impressive and special, but easy to do. I made it for Christmas following the recipe exactly (huge hit!), then experimented with feta cheese another time. But the mix of flavors was less interesting with the feta! I am sticking with the Roquefort.

Exquisite Pizza Sauce

This is fab! I did cut the honey in half and I left out the red pepper and cayenne, just personal preference. Don't leave out the anchovy paste! It provides a richness and depth, not a fishy taste at all. I love that I'll never have to buy canned pizza sauce again. Why buy second rate (or third rate) when it is so easy to make this wonderful stuff!

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

Fabulous! I made these exactly as directed and they turned out perfectly. I used them as Christmas gifts for my kids' teachers and they were a big hit - we loved them so much I had to make a second batch. But they are so quick and easy to make that was no problem!

Pig Pickin' Cake

Everyone loves this. I use a 9x13 pan but never change anything else about the recipe. It is light, cool and fruity -- perect to end a rich meal and even better when made early the day you will serve it or even the day before.

Laura's Quick Slow Cooker Turkey Chili

A solid, reliable recipe for busy days. Everyone loves it. If I am short on/out of the soup I do sometimes switch out a can of low sodium diced tomatoes (partially drained) for one or both. I guess that makes it a little thinner, but it's great nonetheless.

Barbequed Marinated Flank Steak

One of my "go-to" recipes when I want something that can't miss for company. The only change I make: I use brown sugar instead of honey, just because I never seem to have honey on hand. Everyone loves it!

Peanut Butter Vegetable Chicken Soup

I was very intrigued to try this. Unfortunately it did not work for my family. My husband didn't care for it, and the kids ate it but said it was just ok. Oh well, "different strokes for different folks" as we said in the '70s!

Roasted Garlic Cauliflower

Fabulous! I increased the cheese to half a cup. I must say that the garlic did burn, but that didn't matter for some reason. I left out the parsley since I was out, and that didn't seem to matter either. And I didn't need to put it under the broiler, because it was plenty brown without. My husband who hates cauliflower liked it.
