About this Cook
I live in a very small town. I also live in a very small house. It's just me & my roomie/best friend, but my kitchen is SO small...being adventurous in there is hard. I love to cook anything and everything, and you never know what you might be served when you show up. Often I go to my mom's & cook there, as she has much more counter space. She doesn't mind though :) People tell me I should be a chef....though I have the feeling it isn't so much to do with my cooking as it is the fact that I love to cook, just hate doing the dishes!
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking in the slow cooker. Preparing something yummy and just letting it cook all day is so great. I also love pasta dishes. Anything I can spice up is great too!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Holidays are my favorite time of year. Even though there are just 3 of us now, I still insist on buying the 20lb. turkey, making at least 3 pies, and having all the yummy things we had when there we 2 or 3 times as many people around the table. I love my jell-o squares with whipped cream right on my plate with the mashed potatoes....lol
My cooking triumphs
I have been preparing Thanksgiving & Christmas dinners since I was 18. I felt mom had been doing it long enough & it was my turn & I love doing it! I am so thankful everything comes out so great! I was very proud of myself that at a young age I learned how to do things, make things from 'scratch'. And I loved being taught how to make homemade bread, pickles, & jam. Things like that are important I think.
My cooking tragedies
There have been quite a few i will admit, but that is how we learn! It has happened more than once in this house that someone will come in & I will say...well, you might not wanna eat that...sometimes I go nuts with spices & different ingredients lol

Chicken Fried Chicken
This was good. Nothing amazing about it but I will probably make it again as it was very easy to make and it went over well. Served it with some home made country gravy left over from last night. Didn't cisp up as much as I would have liked and the seasoning salt taste seemed to over power, maybe a different spice or 2...? But still, overall a good recipe.

Peanut Butter Frosting
This was a very good frosting. I did make some changes though. Only 2 cups of frosting sugar, and added a tsp. of vanilla and it worked much better. Still a bit greasy but overall it was a hit. Next time I'll be sure to have the butter at room temp and I think it'll be perfect. Made it for my mom's b-day to go on her chocolate cake. Thanks for the recipe and for all the suggestions!

Baked Spaghetti II
An interesting meal idea. Was a little short on flavor so I tested it as it was cooking per someone else's suggestion and added some spices. Makes a very large amount. Plenty of leftovers. Overall it went over well & I will probably make it again.
