I teach Family & Consumer Sciences at our local High School/Jr. High. I have been a teacher for 29 years, and I love to teach students fun, new ways to prepare and eat nutritious foods.
My favorite things to cook
I absolutely love Italian. If I were to choose a last meal it would be Beef and Spinach Cannaloni with Bechamel and Tomato Wine Sauce and a Ceasar Salad with garlic bread served with fresh roasted garlic. Breath mints required!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I enjoy preparing many of the same dishes for my family during the holidays. We all look forward to having the same familiar dishes. Over the years, my kids have learned how to prepare many of these dishes, and they will pitch in and help to make holiday meals special.
My cooking triumphs
I am very good a preparing large quantities of food to serve to large groups. I guess I should have been a caterer instead of a teacher.
My cooking tragedies
My family would say that I try too many new recipes and I experiment too often, on them. They are generally good sports about it, but some things I've made over the years....let's just say, I've learned to forewarn them if it's a new recipe so they can prepare mentally.
