Candied Yams

This is how my mom has made these for years. She melts the butter and mixes it with the sweet potato juice, and brown sugar, and adds cinamon. Pours over the sweet potatoes and bakes til hot. Then she adds the marshmallows and ups the temp on the oven to brown them. Same recipe different technique.

Green Bean Casserole I

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2011
Very good! I've always used this basic recipe which is really good. This time I tweaked some using reviewers tips. I used less milk and added sour cream. That made it soooo creamy. Also used roasted garlic and mushroom soup instead of plain mushroom. The best!

Added rice crispies. A great addition to our Halloween buffet! I'm not a fan of dipping in the white choc, but maybe that's just me :)

Spooky Witches Fingers

We made green witch fingers. They turned out great... The dough was good, but they were too gross looking for me to taste after we finished them lol. We will make these every year!

Crescent Mummy Dogs

Kind of a pain to roll, but they were the crowd favorite at our halloween party. I didn't use the cheese. I will use this year round for the kids, thankfully saving the mummy technique for only once a year!

Southern Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2011
Great recipe, and this is one you can and should alter to fit your tastes! I made changes, but the overall this is a no fail recipe! I added garlic powder, paprika and a little cayenne. I soaked my chicken over night in buttermilk, and also added the spices to the flour. I took them from the buttermilk to the flour, to the buttermilk and flour again. I let it soak in (in the fridge) while I heatd the oil, this helps the coating stick. The best fried chicken ever.

Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy

Yummy and easy! I used french onion soup instead of broth. Made extra gravy too. Didn't have sherry, but didn't sub anything for it either. My husband and 4 little kids love it too! Thanks

Blooming Onion

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2011
We were craving a bloomin onion, and just worked w what we had at home. Sadly wasn't able to make the dip, but will next time! I also just made onion rings bc I was a little afraid to mess up :). I may hold back a tiny bit on the cayenne next time bc the kids thought they were too spicy. BUT these were fabulous and I will make them again!

Bacon Cheddar Deviled Eggs

These were pretty good, but we didnt like the texture of bacon in them. We like the smooth fillimg. If I make these again I will just sprinkle bacon on top or leave it off.

Caramelized Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2011
This tasted similar to my teriyake chicken recipe, but it used simple ingredients. I used breasts, and just cooked the sauce on the stove to thicken it up a bit before pouring over the chicken. Then just baked it, basting once. Quick, easy and very good. Thanks!!

Salsafied Chicken and Rice

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2011
This was ok, but I like it better to use regular rice. Instant didnt aborb the flavors very well. The flavor was so much better and more authentic when I tried a second time. I used 1 c regular long grain rice. I added it to the cooked chicken before adding the broth and salsa. I covered and brought the whole thing to a slow boil for about 20 minutes. Next time I will throw some onion and bell pepper in with the chicken too. Thanks for an easy arroz con pollo idea :)
