Cranberry Pumpkin Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2007
We all LOVED these, even the 3 kids!!! I made them the night before and by morning all of the flavors had blended together beautifully. I added a handful (maybe 3/4 cup?) of chopped walnuts and used craisins, since that's what I already had. I think the texture of the cranberries and walnuts is what actually put it over the top.

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2007
Yum! This is so creamy, and I even used 2% milk. VERY good! It's even better the next morning served cold. I doubled the recipe and added 1/8 tsp nutmeg and 1/4 tsp cinnamon to the milk and rice mixture. Perfect...I can't wait to make it again for company!

Slow Cooker Beef Stew IV

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2005
Loved this recipe! I did take the advice of other reviewers and added a bay leaf and upped the amount of veggies... more potatoes and a 1 lb bag of fresh (not frozen) baby-cut carrots. I only had white wine and beefy onion soup on hand so that's what I used. I would say even with the addition of extra veggies it's still more like 10 servings not 12. A great winter meal to come home and warm up to, especially paired up with my breadmaker.

Slow Cooker Sweet and Tangy Chicken

Pretty easy to make. Chicken was very tender. Taste was just ok though. I would use less BBQ sauce next time if I do try it again. Still looking for some "wow" recipes for the crockpot. Anyone???

Slow Cooker Beef Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2005
Couldn't be any easier, dump it all in the crock-pot and go. No chopping, measuring, etc. I like that part! But as far as taste, its overwhelmingly, and I mean overwhelmingly, tomatoes...and therefor VERY acidic even after cooking all night! I was skeptical about using canned veggies b/c I always use fresh or frozen, but they were just fine. The recipe has so much potential, I think if I tweek it a little bit, with less tomatoes, maybe a little wine, and some more beef, it would easily be 5 star. I like the idea from another reviewer to add a little bit of cooked pasta shells at the end. Will try again. PS-Get your bread maker going timed to finish at the same time and everyone will think you are superwoman...homeade soup and fresh hot bread!!!

Amish Bread

The best white bread recipe...ever!!!! Nice texture and great flavor, easy to make. I changed the recipe to 16 servings to fill my 2 lb. bread maker to capacity; worked perfectly. The second rise was built in so I skipped that step. The only thing I did differently was let the sugar, water and yeast proof alone for a few minutes before adding the rest of the ingredients.

New York Style Pizza

I wouldn't exactly call this NY Pizza...being a native myself. Sorry, it's just not the real thing. So much so that I probably won't make it again. I'll keep looking for another recipe.

Cranberry Hootycreeks

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2005
I love this recipe!!! Tastes great, awesome textures, and it looks SO pretty in the jar with the bright red cranberries! I printed out the baking directions on cardstock and tied it to the mason jar with rafia. Taking the advice of another reviewer, I changed the name to "Cranberries in the Snow"...sounds more appropriate for the holidays and actually resembles it's name! Two suggestions, DO NOT pack down the ingedients as some other recipes in a jar require. This recipe fits in the jar just as it's poured in. Also, using a wide-mouth jar and a cone made out of paper helps kids (and adults alike) get it all in without any mess. Oh, used 7 grain flakes 'cause that's what I had, and walnuts instead of pecans (cheaper) and it tasted great! Will make this to give as gifts every year!
