Corn Chowder with Sausage

It really is quite good. I followed the recipe as written (except for substituting moose sausage for pork) and ended up adding a little extra salt in the end. Very good.

Rolled Buttercream Fondant

This is in response to another review. To get the fondant to be a different color (ie. red, blue, green, purple, etc.) Wilton makes dyes for fondant that you can buy individually or in a pack of 12 or 8. You use them by dipping a toothpick into them and wiping the toothpick onto your ball of fondant, then you knead the color in. Their dyes are a little thicker than food coloring. Haven't tried this recipe yet, but I am definitely taking the pointers and tips from the great reviews that others have left!

A Firefighter's Meatloaf

You know, this was actually very good and very filling. Just be sure to squeeze all of the water out of the bread, not just pour it out of the bowl. Mine came out a little too wet because I didn't do that. My husband loved this and it was great for leftovers for about a week!

Coleslaw I

Actually pretty good. I used raspberry red wine vinegar instead of cider. I will have to try cider vinegar next time. The 3 tbsp. of dehydrated minced onions might be a tad too much for onion taste. I will do 2 tbsp. next time. I liked the vinegar taste and the consistency it helped make the dressing. Unless I find another coleslaw recipe in the future, this one will be the one I use from now on!

Chinese Cabbage Salad I

I made this for a church potluck and it was gone really fast...almost too fast for my husband to get some! I added fresh mushrooms and sunflower seeds and used wine vinegar instead of cider vinegar. I will have to try the cider vinegar next time.

Tartar Sauce I

It was pretty good. Make sure to mince onion really small, and maybe even add 2 more tbsp. of relish. I thought this made it taste less like mayonaise, and more like tartar sauce. I also added as much lemon juice as I liked for liquid consistency. I did not use the full 2 tbsp. because it comes out a tad too runny for our liking.

Butterscotch Spice Cake

I made two of these with vanilla cake mix and didn't really notice any "butterscotch" overwhelming flavor. The butterscotch pudding added a hint of flavor. I'll have to try with spice cake, but reading through the other comments, I see that there's not much difference there with flavor, either.

Broccoli Barley Soup

This was really good. My husband, who usually prefers his soups hot and spicy, commented that although it's not spicy, it was a "nice change." The taste is mild, but the garlic and onion are plenty to flavor this. I used probably 5 garlic cloves because we love garlic, and the taste was still not overpowering.

Taco Pasta Salad

This was so delicious! My husband and I tried different salad dressings and they worked great. The slight warmth of the ground beef and noodles mixed with the cool flavor of the lettuce and tomatoes made this dish delightful!

Raisin Lemon Cookies

We love these cookies!! I even add a half teaspoon more of the lemon extract to bring out the lemon flavor of the cookie. A very interesting and delightful combination and change from the "norm."

Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies I

This is a great recipe, but because I'm at a higher altitude (2500') the original recipe comes out very fluffy and almost cake-like. I add one 3 oz package of instant vanilla pudding to help them come out softer and chewy.

Ultimate Spicy Spud Soup

My husband loves this soup. I try to add less liquid because he likes his soup thicker than how the original recipe turns out. Spicy, very liquidy, and chunky!
