About this Cook
I was born and raised in northern California and made the move to Canada to be closer to my sweetheart. We were married March 2006, and we grain farm in northwestern Alberta.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake, but before I logged on to allrecipes.com, I couldn't. I like making lasagnas and basically anything spicy because my husband loves my spicy food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I actually don't come from a family that has many cooking traditions. The only thing I can relate is when my grandma and I used to make no-bake cookies together.
My cooking triumphs
I can bake cookies now!
My cooking tragedies
I can't make meringue worth a darn. It frustrates me to no end, and now I refuse to make it. Cool whip is my next choice if I ever need meringue.

Corn Chowder with Sausage
It really is quite good. I followed the recipe as written (except for substituting moose sausage for pork) and ended up adding a little extra salt in the end. Very good.

Rolled Buttercream Fondant
This is in response to another review. To get the fondant to be a different color (ie. red, blue, green, purple, etc.) Wilton makes dyes for fondant that you can buy individually or in a pack of 12 or 8. You use them by dipping a toothpick into them and wiping the toothpick onto your ball of fondant, then you knead the color in. Their dyes are a little thicker than food coloring. Haven't tried this recipe yet, but I am definitely taking the pointers and tips from the great reviews that others have left!
