I am a 20-something woman living in Los Angeles. Although I am an amateur, I am a total Martha Stewart-wannabe who lives to cook, bake and do all kinds of crafty things. I love to entertain, but don't get to do it as much as I want to. My dream is to be able to own a cute little bistro/cafe and write my own cookbook.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook! And recently, I have become more interested in baking. I get an unbelievable joy in preparing meals that I know that my family and friends enjoy. I love creating colorful and flavorful foods. I am a firm believer of the fact that you eat with your eyes, so presentation is very important. As far as cuisines go, I love Asian, Italian and basically all kinds of fusion cuisines.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My cooking memories go way back to when I would help my mother and grandmother prepare meals. I grew up in a big family and learned my way around a kitchen very early. Cooking and preparing meals at my house was a group event, everyone had a role. My only problem now is it is hard to just cook for 2 people when I was raised in a such a big family.
My cooking triumphs
Recently, I baked a birthday cake for my sister's friend. He loved Winnie the Pooh, so I downloaded a picture of it online and made it into a stencil and hand decorated a full size Winnie the Pooh. It was the first time I ever did that and it was a success! The guests couldn't believe it was homemade. :)
My cooking tragedies
I have on many occasions turned a tragedy into a triumph, but to sit here and list would be too many to name. Besides how else can you improve/learn without a few mistakes here and there? ;)
