Cream Cheese Frosting I

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
So much better than I anticipated not too sweet and not too cheesy or tangy. I did follow the advice of Adagio and Karen Buzzi and it was perrrfect. I colored it pink and frosted a strawberry cake with it and was able to make a perfectly smooth cake after it made its "crust".

Spaghetti Sauce Mix

Just like the store bought mix, a real lifesaver when I noticed too late that I only had tomatoe sauce on hand. Tangy, not sweet, not too spicy.

Aunt Cora's World's Greatest Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2009
These did not turn out chewy for me. Dry and sandy, better than fluffy and cakey but not chewy like everyone eles says. It was delicious cookie dough and made pretty cookies but they turn to sand in my mouth. I wish I could find pb cookie so chewy it almost pulls your teeth out chewy, you have to rip it chewy. I wasn't expecting that from this but this is not chewy at all.

Angela's Awesome Enchiladas

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2009
I messed this up, between the store bought sauce and the cheddar cheese this was really tangy and not as savory as it smelled while it cooked. I will try this again but with the Red Enchilada Sauce on this site and a mix of monterey jack and mild cheddar, put in some more chili powder.

King Ranch Chicken Casserole III

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2009
I really wanted to like this and it has a lot of potential but it did not work out for me. I'm thinking I should have cut the tortillas into strips, cooked the bell pepper and onion before adding it to the layers and cooked it longer altogether. For me this was runny, the soup mixture didn't seem to set. Runny on top of crunchy undercooked onion and bell pepper made for a night of indigestion. Even the tortilla didn't cook, you would think 40min in the oven with the soup mixture would have turned them to mush but no, chewy. Will try this again but not this recipe.

These were perfect flexible, tender, soft, great tasting tortillas. I used butter flavored shortening and hot water but followed recipe to a T and got great tortillas. THANKS!

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2008
WOW. That is really comparable to the Whole Foods Bakery pumpkin bread, it just needs the walnuts on top and that would be it. I only had one loaf pan so I made one loaf and poured the rest into a very large cake pan, that the dough sat as the same height as the loaf and baked them together and they came out perfect. I followed the recipe, made no alterations. When I first tasted after it cooled it tasted a bit sweet but the next day it had a perfect texture and taste. It would have been excellent with toasted walnuts to balance the sweetness. It was gone in days.

See I didn't know or think to rinse and drain the grated potato, aside adding other stuff to it too. These came out cripsy on the outside and soft on the inside; just like a diner.

Monte Cristo Sandwich - the Real One

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2008
Yes. That is pretty much the one you get at Bennigans. Excellent. I used a deep fryer and followed the recipe. This is a deep fryed sandwich severed with jelly and powdered sugar. It is going to be high in calories. Its a once a year food but really great.

Authentic Chinese Egg Rolls (from a Chinese person)

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2008
These were great, thank you for this recipe. I used ground meat instead of pork and left out the mushroom because I only had ground meat and no mushrooms. However, if you do not follow the recipe and it comes out bad do not blame the recipe. If you want baked egg roll look for baked egg roll recipe, egg rolls are fried. If you don't fry the wrapper its not going to taste good. Fry in hot(not warm) oil to fry or your egg roll will be greasy.

Best Ever Cinnamon Buns

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2008
These were fantastic, sweet but not overpowering, soft but not mushy, a lovely bread texture. I did change the recipe to brown sugar and exchanged the all purpose flour for equal amounts of whole wheat flour and bread flour. I forgot to soften the butter so I had to whip it with a fork and just spread it on with my hands the best I could and wasn't able to use all the butter, this caused a lot of the cinnamon sugar mixture to be absorbed into the bread, so next time I will definitly soften the butter. I will make this again, very easy, very good, almost store bought quality. Better than the clone of cinnabon and those others that are putting pudding mix into the bread.

Peppy's Pita Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2008
This was excellent, I do not have a bread machine and followed the advice of other reviews. I foamed the yeast and used my kitchen aide to do the kneading. I used half whole wheat flour and half bread flour, I also added flax seed and wheat germ which gave it a beautiful color and texture. The pita bread comes out perfect everytime and makes perfect pockets. I also do not have a cake rack just a wire cooling rack which worked well over the oven rack. I have never had store bought pita bread and with this recipe I never will. Thank you so much!
