About this Cook
My husband and I have been married since 1977. We have six children, three married and three still at home. Our goal is to be more like Jesus as we focus on Him each day. So far we have 5 grandchildren and, needless to say, they are amazing! We have family get-togethers about once a month, mostly the food is simple but sometimes I spend days preparing. We live in a very small town in PA. where we grow a few herbs and vegetables.I love sitting on the patio where our large flower garden is in full view.
My favorite things to cook
Mostly, I cook family dinners. I've been branching out trying some Asian and Mexican dishes and have found a few that have been included in our favorites. I enjoy bread making, it seems to as though home-baked bread is becoming a lost art. I like baking and making deserts. I enjoy decorating birthday cakes for my grandchildren.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving is my "thing." I enjoy cooking and hosting a large Thanksgiving dinner. We usually celebrate the holidays here and I love trying out new recipes each year.
My cooking triumphs
I made the Braided Easter Egg Bread from this site and it was a big hit with the colored eggs baked in for decoration. I made my granddaughter a birthday cake decorated to look like a jewelry box; I didn't know if I could pull it off but it looked great!
My cooking tragedies
I've been cooking for so long that it is hard for me to remember any recent tragedies. My husband reminded me about the time when I tried to make a healthy "Wacky Cake" and my father-in-law said it was so bad that the icing was trying to run away from it!

The Best Chicken Fried Steak
Born and bred a true Yankee this is only the second time I've ever attempted to make chicken fried steak (first time was a flop so I'd just order it when we went out to eat.) My husband brought home some cube steak so I looked around and found this recipe and decided to give it a try. Let me tell you, this is the best chicken fried steak I've ever eaten! I doubled the recipe and cooked it for 8 of us tonight and it was a huge success! I doubt that I'll ever cook chicken fried steak with any other recipe. Thank you so much for posting!

Cheddar Chicken Spaghetti
I make this exact recipe except I stir in a small can of green chilies and a TBLSP of tarragon. We love it!

Crunchy Romaine Toss
This has, without a doubt, become our favorite salad! I have made it countless times. I switch up the veggies but make the dressing exactly as listed...wait, I doubled the soy sauce by accident and we liked it so now I double it all the time. I usually use only romaine but once added some leaf lettuce because I had some on hand, the leaf lettuce wilted a bit but it tasted great none the less. The only substitution I use on a regular basis is sliced almonds instead of the walnuts--personal preference. This salad is amazing with cauliflower instead of all or part of the broccoli; tomatoes and/or cucumbers, or whatever salad vegetables we have on hand, added in. It always gets rave reviews. I serve it with just about any meal--from pizza and sandwiches to meat and potatoes. I never make it with out doubling the recipe and have even quadrupled it and served it in a punch bowl for 10 of us with none leftover. We never have any leftover because every loves it! Thank you, Bissy, for this submission!
