Fruit Pizza

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2009
Making individual Fruit pizza's for a Ladies retreat with the spread and glaze. Plan on using soft sugar cookies from the store and top with Slice of Kiwi, Strawberry & a few blueberries. Can't wait to try this out! Looks yummy. Out of all the recipes I have looked at this one seemed the easiest and most appealing. Will rate it fully after the retreat. Thanks for the recipe.

When I tried this it was so moist and tender. I immediately thought much better than Jiffy. Then I found out it was Jiffy only not in the traditional way that it is made.

Fruit-Topped Buttermilk Pancakes

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2008
This was agood recipe. I only made the pancakes and they turned out great. The bater was not too thick or thin. I did let the batter sit about 10 minutes while I finished getting ready for the day. I used a pancake baker and they did not burn. they were fluffy and the flavor was nice and smooth. These stayed with us longer than other recipes or box mixes do. I doubled the recipe and it made 16 8 inch pancakes. They don't have the bitter taste that other recipes have and the don't fall apart either. I asked my DH and he said they were good. Our boys went for seconds. Thanks for the recipe I will make this again over and over.

Waffles II

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2008
These were ok. They were doughy in the center and not sweet. After tasting the first one I added in a small amount of sugar and they still lacked a sweet flavor. Was hoping to find a recipe that had few ingredients and flavorful without the syrup.

Apple Dumpling Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2008
This was really good Amy. Does not have an overly sweet taste. I used motts apples. I would use Granny Smith or Red Delicious next time. (we did not care for the motts apples too soft and we needed to use them up). A good firm apple is best for this recipe. Was very good and definitely a keeper. Thanks Amy for the quick and easy recipe. Oh MY I am keeping my previous post in here but I had to say that Amy I had cut too many apples and had to mix up a 2nd batch. Everyone really loved the first one. But my youngest devoured the second one. He started picking at it bit by bit till nothing was left. This was in a 9/13 pan and he had it gone in a day.

Butter Snow Flakes

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2007
I made this with only 2 substitutions. I used lemon zest and almond flavoring instead of vanilla. Even after refrigerating it was sticky. The cookie itself was chewy in the center and crisp around the edges. With cold milk they tasted really awsome. I rolled them into balls and pressed into sugar then flattened them on the cookie sheet. When I tasted them by themselves they had a weird after taste. Not sure what it was. Not sure if I will try this again. Maybe it was the substitutions that made it off. Anyways I give them 4 stars. My Husbnd loved them...

So Light and fluffy!!! This was wonderful. I figured that because it was so thick it would be heavier. But no it was light and fluffy. Never had a better Banana pudding recipe. I tripled and took to our Birthday friday at work. Everyone who tried it wanted the recipe. IOt was easy to make too. Thanks for the great recipe. A definite keeper!!!

I am only going to rate this a 3 right now. I used bisquick mix and I want to try it with some others before I finalize this. I would not use it with Bisquick they did not have much flavor. They seemed to be lacking something. That is why am waiting to fully rate it.

Lemon Poppy Seed Amish Friendship Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2007
This recipe was so delicious! Ok I did make some changes as I made muffins. First I only had the Mango/Mandarin Orange applesauce my kids take with them in their lunches. I assumed it was 1/2 cup. It gave it some awesome flavor. If you all haven't tried it with different applesauces yet you should try it. I made 20 lage size muffins. I probably added to much of the batter in the cups. But that did not take away from their taste. I baked them at 425 for 20 to 23 minutes. The first batch 23 the last 20 they were golden brown and oh so moist. I did add in quite a bit more poppyseeds than it called for. I went for how the instant mixes looked and just added more in till it looked right. My husband said that these were much better than the instant mixes. served with ice cold milk on the side they are sweet, moist and they even melt in your mouth. Thank you for the recipe. Next batch: Banana Nut Muffins with Blueberry morning applesauce. Should be interesting. Thanks!!!

Amish Friendship Bread Starter

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2007
Thank you so much for this recipe. When My Husband saw the ziplock bag on the counter he looked at me and said not again!!! He told me you never know who had this stuff in their kitchen and what kind of conditions it had been in. Well with this there is no worry. After I started making the muffins I showed him that the whole recipe came from here. He did not say anything to that (which means really good!). Thanks for the great and useful recipe. Will be using this for years to come. Oh and by the way when my son put an older starter not this one, into the refrigerater it did not want to start back up. It had been in over night and I kept it out for 7 days and it never got bubbly. I assumed that it killed the yeast or active ingredients. Also metal spoons will cause it to do the same. Not from me personally but a friend had this happen to hers.

Amazingly Good Eggnog

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2007
This eggnog was wonderful. Thick, Creamy with awesome flavor. I omitted the rum and it was very good. I used a hand mixer instead of a wisk tho. I also used a slotted spoon to take out the cloves. Yes it does take longer than the quick recipes but it is well worth the time. Thanks for the wonderful recipe NATALEESMOM!

Easiest Egg Nog

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2006
Ok I made a couple of changes and it turned out great. The changes were I added another egg and simmered on med-low setting. I had it while it was still hot and the flavor was awesome. When trying new recipes I find you have to change a bit sometimes to suit your tastes. I took off the white creamy part of the egg as it tends to make it lumpy but that did not take long at all. Great recipe. And does not take long to make it. I decided to cook the recipe because my Husband is a transplant patient and I don't want to take any chances. Thanks for the recipe.

Funnel Cakes IV

Made these again yesterday for a quick snack for the boys when they came in from school. I cooked them in a 9 inch castiron skillet. The boys commented that the more I make these the better they are. I did make 2 substitutions tho. I added vanilla and added 1/2 cup sugar instead. The were wonderful. Also after getting up this morning I made them for breakfast and the kids enjoyed them again. I made a total of 12 cakes. I will make these again for the bake sales and put them into ziplock baggies. Thanks again for the great recipe.

Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2006
These were very good. I did make quite a few changes because of what I had on hand. I used margarine instead of shortening I would still use this because shortening tends to make things taste greasy. I only had 1 cup of brown sugar so I added 1 cup of white sugar. And I used the old fashioned oats because I like the texture as opposed to the quick oats that are crumbly and flakey. I baked them for exactly 12 minutes and they came out chewy with a crisy texture around the edges. After cooling they did not get crumbly. Maybe with the changes I made that is why. Not sure. But I will definitely make these again. Thanks for the great recipe.

This was a wonderful recipe. I doubled the recipe so we can have enoug for 2 to 3 days worth of eating. I bake mine in a castiron skillet and with each pancake I add 1 tsp margarine in skillet just before baking them. I also added in 2 TBSP extra sugar and 1 TBSP vanilla too. The pancakes were fluffy and they melted in your mouth. Thanks for the great recipe.

Egg Custard Pie III

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2006
Pat this was my first attempt at making an egg custard pie. It was wonderful. I used margarine instead of butter because we had the margarine and no butter. It still was really good. May try the butter next time to see the difference. My mom said just before she tried it not to be suprised if the crust was soggy. It wasen't. She and several family members said it was really good. Thanks for the great and easy recipe. I will definitely be making this again.

No Bake Cookies I

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2006
These were good. I made them with margarine instead of butter and I also added 1 more cup of oats. The oats were the old fashioned kind. I would make one reccomendation. With the crunchy peanutbutter they lost some of their peanut butter flavor. I will use creamy peanutbutter next time. There were really good and the boys ate them right up by the end of the day. Thanks for the recipe.
