Carrot Cake
Little Ole Me (and my friend, josh)
About this Cook
I am a 20 year old college student who has an aspiration to one day own her own resteraunt/catering business. All I ever watch is Food Network!! I am compiling a list of foods that I would one day like to have on my menu. I am always trying new recipes and making things up off the top of my head!! My grandfather owned 3 very successful resteraunts and my grandmother was a home-ec teacher. So I think cooking just must be in my blood. ;) I can never get enough of cooking for people. Right now I am just trying to get through college so I can save enough money to open up my own place when I am MUCH older. :)
My favorite things to cook
ANYHTING!! But I really like to bake more than anything else. I think it is because of the way people light up when they find out that you made cookies or cup cakes or whatever... But I am beginning to love experimenting with different regional cuisines...Especially Italian (my favorite!!)
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love to cook around the holidays. My whole family comes over and we cook and bake and eat and then cook and bake and eat some more. It is so fun to have everyone in the kitchen laughing and enjoying eachother's company. Not to mention the food!! My new favorite tradition that just began is the tradition of making a honey glazed ham. I love anything pork Im a true southern girl...what can I say:) especially honey glazed ham.
My cooking triumphs
My fondest cooking triumph that I can remember is making a honey glazed ham for the first time on thanksgiving. Everyone raved about it the entire day. They all loved it. And everyone told me that I had to make the ham from now on. My brother even said that he liked it (he only likes cheeseburgers) and i couldn't believe it!! LOL
My cooking tragedies
OMG!! I cannot seem to master making a tiramisu. It is so hard for me for some reason. I don't know if I am doing something wrong or the recipes are faulty but I cannot do it to save my life. The frustration is only made worse by the fact that the ingredients are so expensive...:( But i am gonna keep trying.

Chocolate Cavity Maker Cake
No doubt that this is the BEST chocolate cake I've EVER eaten!! And so sinfully easy to make! I switch up the liqueur depending on my mood but my favorite is a mix of amaretto and hazelnut! I bake mine in three 9 inch cake pans for about 25-35 mins. I make a chocolate mousse filling and a ganache topping using recipes from this site. You should definitely try it!!! Your friends will be begging you to make more cakes and give them you "secret" recipe! ;-)

Mock Champagne
This recipe is PERFECT for any afternoon or brunch gathering where you want to serve something that looks special and tastes special...but without the alcohol. I switch up the fruit garnish depending on the color theme of the gathering...blueberries for a boy baby shower...raspberry of strawberry for a girl...pineapple or kiwi for neutral...use your imagination!!
