Sour Cream Raspberry Pie

The recipe as is isn't that good. We could taste the flour in the sour cream mixture, the crumb topping should be eliminated or replaced with a better crumb mixture, the flavor was bland, and there needs to be more sugar. IF I were to try this recipe again I'd make some changes. For the sour cream mixture I'd use 1/4c flour, an additional 2T or so of sugar, and 1t vanilla extract. In the berries I'd add 2T sugar and 1T cornstarch and wouldn't bother with a crumble topping.

Pizza Pinwheels

These aren't awful, but they aren't great either. They're time consuming and messy. It's difficult to roll them without the fillings falling out or the seams splitting. They're also difficult to cut without making a mess. The crescent roll taste is overpowering. Using actual pizza dough would make this recipe alot better, but even with pizza dough it still wouldn't be worth the time and effort these take.

Country Apple Dumplings

I loved this dessert! It's super easy to make and tastes fantastic. My only suggestions are 1 cup of sugar and half a can of Mt. Dew. This gave the dumplings just the right amount of sweet and the reduced liquid made the perfect amount and consistency of syrup.

Amaretto Chicken

I had high hopes for this recipe and was sorely disappointed. The flavors are strange together (In fact it tasted so odd I triple checked the recipe to make sure I didn't make any mistakes) and the sauce was thin and overly sweet. I could only eat half my portion and the rest of the family barely managed to choke their servings down. My husband even made the comment that he thought the recipe was submitted as a prank.

Cocktail Wieners I

Everyone enjoyed these! Kids and adults. I followed the recipe as is adding 2 T brown sugar and 1 T lemon juice as suggested by another reviewer. The ingredients sound a little strange, but they meld together perfectly!

Burrito Pie

The meat mixture is yummy, but making it into a casserole was a waste of time. I threw out the leftovers. None of us ate any after the first night. The family liked it, but would have been sooo much better if we could have personalized each burrito to our own tastes (more or less meat, onions, cheese, salsa, taco sauce, sour cream, etc.). I've saved the meat mixture part of the recipe in my files for future use. This will replace my current burrito recipe for sure!

Make Ahead Lunch Wraps

These are pretty good! I prefer to take my lunch to work rather than eating greasy fast food whenever possible. After all, you never know if the person cooking your food has washed their hands after their last lavatory visit, or scratched that unmentionable itch 5 minutes ago...... Anyway, these reheat well and are even better with sour cream and salsa on the side. I'll take one or 2 of these when there's no leftovers and/or I don't have time to whip up a quick lunch. They freezer burn rather quickly though. I suggest eating them within 2 weeks.

Lasagna Alfredo

Delicious! Everyone loved this. I added a package of fresh sliced mushrooms and crinkle cut carrots. The veggies added a nice touch. Broccoli would work great too.

Italian Meatball Sandwich Casserole

We really liked this! I needed to use up a loaf of Italian bread and was looking for something different. I followed the recipe closely and the only alterations made were per other reviewers....I used 1 1/2 lbs ground beef, 1/4 c mayo, and no water. I also toasted the bread under the broiler, spread cream cheese 'blend' over toasted bread, then cut into cubes. It came out perfectly with the modifications. I would have rated this a 5, but when I mentioned this dish a few days later no one could remember eating it. I had to remind them what it was.

Tasty Tuna Burgers

In searching for healthier meal ideas I ran across this recipe. I made the mistake of doubling it and between a family of 4 only 1/2 a "burger" was consumed. The rest went to the dog. I've made some OUTRAGEOUS dishes trying to expand our horizons and some have been downright awful. However, these are the worst by far! Our non-picky family found these to be completely inedible. Try at your own risk!

Chow Mein Noodle Casserole

I've modified this recipe so much it barely resembles the original! I'm rating it 4 stars regardless, because it gave me a starting point to what is now one of my family's favorite dinners........... A few things I do is double (or more) the rice, add a can of cream of mushroom, a package of pea pods, 1/2 package of mix veggies, sliced water chestnuts, mushrooms, minced garlic, and celery seed instead of fresh. For the almonds I use Almond Accents (original). They're paper thin and pre-salted. These are a necessity in our opinion. We also serve our noodles on the side so they don't get mushy and everyone can add to their own personal taste. I use rice noodles. The ones that look just like chow mein noodles, but a tad thinner. We prefer these and they only cost a few cents more.

Lime Chicken Soft Tacos

How did this recipe get so many 5 star ratings?! My husband and 2 children only shrugged their shoulders when I asked if they liked it. This dish was edible and that's about it. Not great, not awful. The chicken was bland and the only flavors that came through were lime and vinegar. This recipe could be good with ALOT of tweaking, but I've already moved on to a better chicken taco. PS. Cooking time is much too long and cilantro (preferrably fresh) should be used instead of oregano.

Angel Chicken Pasta

I really liked this! I accidently added double the amount of cream cheese called for in the recipe, but followed everything else to the letter. The sauce is rich and decadent, but was too thick and would have been even if I hadn't doubled the cc. Next time.... 1) I will double the sauce ingredients except for the butter and italian dressing mix. 2) Use low fat cream cheese (Neufchatel) and add fresh chives. 3) Cube and fry the chicken in the butter and italian dressing mix adding 8 oz. of fresh sliced mushrooms the last couple minutes of cooking time. 4) After the chicken is cooked I'll stir in the rest of the sauce ingredients and heat through on the stovetop as opposed to the oven. Baking in my opinion is a time consuming, extra dish dirtying unnecessary step. This way everything will be limited to one pot. Easier cleanup and alot faster too! My family and I also didn't care for the angel hair pasta. It didn't "fit" this dish. Egg noodles or rice would be much better suited for the sauce.

Baked Ziti I

My husband said to rate this a 3, but I'm giving it a 4 since I used cheap sauce. A better quality sauce would have made this a pretty good dish instead of an average one. I'll probably make this a couple times a year for something a little different, but it won't be in heavy rotation at my home.

A Plus Carrot Cake

This is a really good cake, but when I tried this I didn't think it tasted like carrot cake. It was more like a spice cake that happened to have carrots in it. It's heavy, moist, and a bit greasy. I followed the recipe to a T, but omitted raisins as I despise them in baked goods. I'll try this recipe again, but next time I'll use 3 cups of carrots and substitute a 1/2 cup of the oil with buttermilk or applesauce to cut back some of the greasiness. I think I'll use a smaller can of crushed pineapple as well since it's almost overly sweet and moist especially after topping with cream cheese frosting.

Bagel Dip

The recipe I've been looking for! I had sampled this at a get together this summer and wanted the recipe ever since. The only things I did different is I omitted the msg and used dehydrated onions. I also had smoked beef freshly shaved at my local deli as it's MUCH better than prepackaged meat. This dip is excellent and a must try! I don't even like bagels, yet I love them with this dip.
