About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love making sweets. Anything decadent and rich! Lasagna is a great one too!
My cooking tragedies
A blackberry pie. I picked wild blackberries one year and made a pie out of them. I hand made the crust with little heart cut outs (it was so beautiful to look at) but it was inedible due to the sad fact that the flour I used to make the crust had gone very bad. So it tasted like crapola. That was horrible!!

Rick's Special Buttercream Frosting
Honestly...I did not care for this recipe. I'm sorry but shortening just DOES NOT belong in frosting. I feel like it ruined my cake that I spent a whole week preparing, and I am so dissapointed. I learned a valuble lesson though. NEVER put shortening in frosting. I gave it a star because it does do well for decorating...

Cream of Celery Soup
Ok, I changed this recipe quite a bit but.. I have to give it credit for giving me an amazing base to work with. My boyfriend said it was possibly in the top 20 best foods he's ever eaten, which is saying alot because he's a big foodie. I used chicken boullion cubes instead of broth (omitting the salt called for in the recipe). I also omitted the butter, as it was not needed. I pureed the veggies after soft boiling them in the broth, and then added them back. I also added some sage and a couple shakes of habenero powder. It was amazing. However, next time I will also try making the roux that some of the other reviewers made. Thank you for the wonderful recipe!
