Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2009
I made this for dinner this evening, and it was amazing! I didn't change a thing, and I loved it- just the right sweetness, with a dense, moist texture. I will definitely make this again and again.

Chocolate Zucchini Bread I

Reviewed: May 3, 2009
This is a great recipe! I scaled the recipe in half and made cupcakes, and they turned out moist and delicious. I used half oil and half applesauce as some other reviewers did, and had no problems. I also subbed cocoa powder for unsweetened chocolate, because that is what I had, and again no problems. This is an easily adaptable recipe, which is one of the things that makes it great!

Cowboy Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: May 3, 2009
I'm a cowgirl living alone, and I still loved these! It must be the child in me. I didn't add any jalapeno but that is just because I didn't have any- next time I make them (and there will be a next time), I will definitely add it. The next day, I made them into potato pancakes, as other reviewers suggested, and those were great too!

Banana Muffins II

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2009
These are pretty tasty, and I only had 2 bananas! They were not quite as moist as I was hoping, but that could be because I was one banana short. They got 4 stars because I only baked them for 20 min, and they were still almost too brown. So watch them carefully, and start checking them at 15 min.

Vegetarian Meatloaf with Vegetables

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2009
This was delicious! I'm only giving it 4 stars and not 5 because I made a few changes- I used the tangy sauce on top, as other reviewers suggested, Ritz crackers instead of bread, and increased the amount and variety of spices- I included summer savory, a bit of cumin, a bit of cayenne, as well as smoked paprika and fresh garlic. The texture is just right, and I think it will make a great sandwich tomorrow! I will be making this again, for sure.

Easy Beer Bread Mix

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2009
This is a great recipe! I used a top quality kona coffee porter (a nice dark beer), and it turned out wonderfully. Like many of the other reviewers, I didn't have self-rising flour, so I used 3 c. flour, 4.5 tsp of baking powder, and 1.5 tsp salt, total. I did not use the spices, because I wanted a bread that would go well with PB. I will definitely make this again!

Sturdy Whipped Cream Frosting

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2008
This is the best frosting ever! I never need to hunt for another fluffy frosting again. Aside from halving the recipe (I didn't need to fill the cake), I followed it exactly, and it turned out wonderfully. Thank you so much for this recipe!

Pumpkin Pancakes

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2008
These are the best pumpkin pancakes ever! The only thing I did differently was to add 1/4 c packed brown sugar instead of 3 T(because I like my sweetness in the pancake, not on top of it), and to use Silk eggnog instead of milk. This didn't hurt the recipe at all, and in fact added a little extra something. Thanks for a great recipe!

French Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2008
This is a great recipe! The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I changed it slightly by taking the suggestion of several previous reviewers and added more salt, and proofed the yeast with the water and some honey prior to adding it to the flour. I also sprayed the inside of the oven with water every 10 min or so to make the crust extra crispy, as I have read elsewhere. It seemed to work! Enjoy this one:)

Addictive Sweet Potato Burritos

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2007
This is an excellent recipie! I changed it up a little by making them enchilladas- when you put them in the oven, just pour a can of enchillada sauce over them, and grate the cheese over it. Yum!

Spring Strawberry Spinach Salad

This was excellent! I made "Dawn's Candied Walnuts" from this site, and sprinkled them on top, and it made the salad that much better. Highly recommended!

Lemon Soup

This was 'frothier' than I was expecting, and quite tart. I would make it again, but whip the egg whites less, and use less lemon juice.

Irish Soda Farls

These were very nice- I was looking for a bread I could cook on the stovetop, and here it is. Simple, quick and tasty. I added sugar, cinnamon, and a bit of all spice to mine for a more breakfast feel, and ate them with pumpkin butter.

Indian Sweet Bread

This recipe was so easy and wonderful. Tip: I added sliced banannas to the center before re-rolling it, and it tastes just like bananna roti I used to eat in Chaing Mai, Thailand. Drizzle some sweetend condensend milk on top for the truly authentic version. Thanks for the recipe!

Chocolate Cornstarch Pudding

This recipie is wonderful! I live in Bulgaria, where most people have never heard of cornstarch, so I had to use flour. It still turned out fabulous. I'm off to eat some more of it!

Butter Snow Flakes

These cookies were amazing! They have a wonderful, delicate flavor. The only change I would make would be to add more cinnamon next time, since I am a huge cinnamon fan.
