Simple Spinach Lasagna

Reviewed: May 20, 2009
This recipe is delicious! BUT, because I made a minor change, I cannot give it a 5 star rating. First of all, with 1 whole tsp of salt, it would be wayy too salty. I used a 1/2 tsp and it was still quite salty. Also, next time I may lesson the water a bit to 1 cup instead. After the lasagna was done baking I sprinkled some parmesan and cheese to melt on top so it would look nicer presentation wise. All in all, it was a delicious recipe and I would make again for sure. Thanks!

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
Great tasting cookies! I prefer them soft and chewy. I did flatten the cookies a little before putting them in the oven since they don't spread very much. I baked them in my oven for 9 minutes and let them cool. I added raisins to the second batch I made and love them even more.

Cool Whipped Frosting

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2008
Fantastic recipe. A light but creamy and tasty frosting. I followed the directions and ingredients as listed and it can frost 2 small cakes, or 1 bigger, double layer cake. I used the original cool whipped (not the low fat one) which I think may be what is changing the consistency of some of the other reviewers frosting.

Cream Cheese Pound Cake I

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2008
This cake is delicious! I did reduce the sugar to 2.5 cups due to personal taste preference. This cake is a lot easier to make if you have a stand mixer so it can whip the butter/cream cheese quicker and make it light and fluffy. For my oven, 1h + 15 minutes was just perfect. Next time I will try this again replacing different extracts or using only vanilla. I ended up making a glaze with confectioners sugar and milk and then sprinkled slivered almonds on top.

Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2007
Pretty good, but make sure you serve it chilled, or it gets very soft. This is tasty, but it's not the exact same texture or taste as fudge from candy shops.

Original Irish Cream

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2007
I tried this irish cream recipe because it doesn't require eggs. I did lesson the whiskey ratio so it would be less strong. I used 1 cup of whisky instead, and found the taste to be just perfect and not extremely strong. The recipe is easy to adjust to your liking. Sometimes I add a little more coffee or a little more choc syrup. Tastes great in coffee! I did, however, notice a slight separation of the mixture in the fridge. Maybe I don't mix it well enough? Still tastes great though

Best Bruschetta Ever

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2007
Very easy and delicious. I add a tsp of oregano sometimes as well. I like to pretoast the baguettes w/ garlic & olive oil brushed on top for extra flavor before adding the bruschetta.

Cake Mix Cookies VIII

simple recipe, however I personally find cake mix cookies to be a little sweet for my preference. I will make again if in a hurry, but it is not my favourite.

Cranberry Pistachio Biscotti

Followed the recipe pretty much exactly. Super delicious and very pretty. I used 1 cup each of cranberries and pistachios and found that to be a perfect amount.

One Bowl Brownies

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2007
kind of a disappointment. I think the baking time is a little long on these (35min on recipe).. I only baked for 30 minutes, and they were already well done. These were alright.. but not the best brownies I've ever had. I like really rich, chewy and dense brownies. These were kind of dry. I would not make again.

Southern-Style Meat Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2007
I halved the recipe because I didn't need 9 servings. Very good and tasty.. but both my bf and I thought it wasn't spicy enough and there is a little something missing. Next time I will cut out a little bit of salt, and add a couple shakes of cayenne pepper for a kick.

Apple Crumble Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2007
very good! I nuke the apples in the microwave for a few minutes first so I can be ensured they're thoroughly cooked and soft when the pie is actually done baking (I hate it when some of the apples are still kind of raw). Then I add the cinnamon and sugar, also a tbsp of flour and mix the apple mixture. After letting the pie cool, you get the perfect taste and consistency. Add a scoop of ice cream and you're in heaven!

Amaretto Cheesecake I

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2007
Very good cheesecake, but not the best Amaretto Cheesecake I've tasted/made. I followed the directions exactly with the exception of adding a bit more liqueur. The flavor of the cheesecake was phenomenal. The texture is quite dense, which I don't mind, but the cheesecake was a tad dry. Next time I will consider either using less sour cream, or adding more cream cheese. I baked for 55min, shut the oven off and left it in there for an hour before taking it out of the oven. I got rave reviews from friends and family though!

Irish Cream Chocolate Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2007
Delicious cheesecake! I've used this recipe a few times with Irish Cream, other times with another liqueur. I make a couple of adjustments for my own tastes.. I don't use cocoa powder, I add more liqueur (anywhere from 1/3cup to 1/2cup), and I add 1.5tsp of vanilla extract. The recipe is very forgiving so you can add/take away small amounts of things to fit your tastes. I get a creamy flavorful, delicious cheesecake with no cracks(using a water bath, and greasing the pan of course). After done baking, I shut the oven off and leave the cheesecake in the oven for a couple hours before actually removing it. Then chill overnight and decorate. So good!!!

Can't Tell They're Low-fat Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2007
I thought I'd give these a try since the rating was decent.. I'm not going to lie, these were a disappointment. There was no chewy, moist texture. The taste was very bland as well. I tried this twice, using prunes once and applesauce the other time. Prunes are definitely slightly better, but truthfully, both are disappointing. Stick to real brownies!

Fluffy French Toast

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2007
excellent french toast! Simply delicious! I do have a suggestion though. next time I would sprinkle the cinnamon onto the bread after it has been soaked in the liquid mixture. This way there is more of a detectable cinnamon taste and each piece of bread gets evenly spiced rather then the first couple pieces soaking up all the cinnamon. And this is my personal preference, but I love sprinkling brown sugar onto the bread as it's frying. It gives a sweet hint so that I don't necessarily have to use too much syrup later.

White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2007
Excellent tasting cheesecake. I used a water bath so that there would be no cracks in the cheesecake, and I gradually lowered the oven temperature a minute or two before an hour is up. The gradual lowering of the temp helps in that the cake will contract slower and there is less chance of cracking. I then left the cake in the oven for about an hour untouched, and carefully tranferred it to the fridge overnight. The cheesecake was a hit! I garnished the cheesecake with chocolate shavings and a dollop of whipped cream. Amazing!

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2007
These muffins are delicious! I made a couple of adjustments though. I took other peoples suggestions and I doubled the ingredients for the batter and added 2tsp of vanilla extract into the batter. Make sure NOT to double the crumb topping mixture though! For the topping I subbed brown sugar for white sugar due to my personal preference. The batter is supposed to be thick, and make sure to fill the muffin cups 3/4 full. I baked these for ~22min and ended up getting exactly 18 beautiful, bursting muffins using regular sized muffin tins.

Million Dollar Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2007
Let's face it.. the cake itself is not what we're reviewing here.. it's mainly the cake icing. It's so light, delicious and addicting, and can go well with basically any cake. I recommend chilling the icing for a couple of hours before spreading it so that it will stay on the cake easier. I garnished my cake with grated coconut to complement the pineapple. It was great! I will definitely be making again! (Just to let you know, this recipe makes a TON of icing.. the leftovers make a wonderful fruit dip!)

I followed the recipe exactly. The cookies came out perfectly chewy and delicious, but were a tad sweet in my opinion. I will cut out some of the sugar next time.
