About this Cook
I am a graphic designer in Minnesota. I like to be creative and found that I can also be creative in the kitchen, trying out and modifying recipes and creating new ones.
My favorite things to cook
My new favorite is my veggie white pizza that my husband and I made. I like recipes that have fewer ingredients and the fewer pans to get dirty the better.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I like to make German Christmas cookies with my mom.
My cooking triumphs
I am still a work in progress. I did make a vegetarian lasagna once that everyone liked even though it had no meat in it.
My cooking tragedies
I can never seem to bake the perfect chocolate chip cookie, something always goes wrong.

Banana Spice Cookies
When I tried this recipe, the cookies came out puffy or spongy so they are not really like a cookie, but more like mini muffins. Thanks for a good recipe for using up extra bananas. Although I am still in search of a banana cookie that is more like a sugar cookie.. this one is a good snack to take along to work or school.

Sausage Mushroom Quiche
I made this yesterday for a birthday brunch and everyone liked it. I substituted the sausage with spicy turkey sausage. I also used shredded colby/jack cheese instead of parmesan because I like this kind of cheese better. Sorry to have tweaked the recipe a little bit, but it provided a very good starting point and the texture of the quiche was very good. I took the advice of other reviewers and baked pie shell for 5 minutes, also I added the shredded cheese to bottom of pie shell before putting in the quiche mixture. It baked in about 36-40 minutes and I didn't have a problem with the edges of pie dough being to dark.

Original Chex(R) Party Mix
I made the half recipe that I found on the Chex website. However, I don't like the pretzels or bagel chips, so I used Cheerios cereal to replace the bagel chips and pretzels. It seems that it could use more butter and seasoning mixture. Mine turned out not well enough coated and I had to add more butter and of the Worcestershire sauce.
