My wife and I both love to cook. I cook through the week and my wife usually cooks something special on the weekends. We love to try new recipes. I enjoy building web sites, taking care of our three Shetland Sheepdogs, Joey, Violet and Roddy (the puppy) and making home brewed beer. I'll start making wine again soon. I like to plant things and watch them grow... mostly tomato's and flowers.
My favorite things to cook
I was raised on a farm, so I like simple southern or country dishes, though I try to stay away from frying as much as possible. I can whip up a batch of hamburger gravy on biscuits or make a mean spaghetti sauce... nothing scares me. I'll try cooking anything once!
My favorite family cooking traditions
We have standard menu's for the holidays. Turkey for Thanksgiving (deep fried of course). Ham, Oysters, scalloped potato's and green beans for Christmas eve.
My cooking triumphs
Hmmm, I'd have to say that deep frying my first turkey was a triumph. We'd always heard that it was so much better that way, and man were they right! This turkey turned out crisp on the outside, moist and juicy on the inside. Terrific flavor! Can't have turkey any other way now.
My cooking tragedies
So far, no tragedy.
