I really like trying new recipes and keeping our diet as varied as possible. I'm definitely trying to cook healthier and use lots of fresh produce from my garden. My favorite ethnic traditions are from my mother's side which is Slovak. Our holidays include several courses of Slovak food and many religious traditions. (These traditions are very similar to Ukranian and Polish.) For me, there is nothing more wonderful than sharing these traditions with the entire family and and enjoying the new family members' first holiday experiences. I will certainly continue these traditions and hand them down! Some of the foods: Bobalki (dumplings with poppyseed), Prune & Kidney bean Soup, Sauerkraut & Mushroom Soup, Hrutka (egg cheese), Pirohy (perogies) among others.
