I grew up in Boulder, CO. I graduated from CSU and worked in the tech industry in Denver for several years but wasn't very happy there so I decided to go back to school for culinary arts. I went to Johnson & Wales University and graduated with a baking and pastry degree. I love it!!
My favorite things to cook
I really like to cook just about anything but my real love is baking and I really like to make specialty desserts like cream puffs, creme brulee, and napoleans. I also love to experiment with flavors and make cheesecakes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
When I was a child my mom made Xmas cookies, coffee cake and fudge every year for Xmas and now I am doing that with my kids. I absolutely hands down enjoy doing Xmas cookies with the kids the most because it is a family event and we all sit down even my husband and enjoy the company of our family.
My cooking triumphs
The first time I made Creme Anglaise and it turned out. I was in culinary school and I couldn't get that sauce right for anything. It was pretty funny because I had no problem with the caramel and that was considered to be harder. But, I made Creme Anglaise and it turned out perfect for the first time at final exam time. Thank goodness.
