About this Cook
Hi! I'm Cicely, and I am a born and bred St. Louisan. I love to try new foods and wines, and I love to share my cooking with loved ones!
My favorite things to cook
Baked sweets are my fave (as you'll see in ALL of my answers)! I've been expermimenting with sugar substitute in a lot of the recipes for baked goods here, and they are turning out well.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I usually help my mom with the desserts during holiday cooking, so we get to bond over the mixing bowl.
My cooking triumphs
Near the holidays last year, my mom requested a carrot cake and my stepfather requested a pineapple upside-down cake, neither of which I had ever made before. Both turned out so good that they asked for them again this year!
My cooking tragedies
Lots and lots of burnt cookies...before I discovered the magic that is parchment paper.

Garlic Cheddar Chicken
Used the breading mixture on boneless pork chops and was very pleased. Can't wait to use it on chicken soon!

No Bake Cookies V
Made these for my friend's birthday (they are her favorite). She (and our coworkers) loved them! Just like the ones I remember from childhood. Be sure to follow the cooking instructions precisely, and there should be no problems with set-up.

Banana Pudding I
Made this for a friend's birthday as it is her favorite dessert. Turned out great! I upped the vanilla, used three bananas, only egg whites, and almost a whole box of vanilla wafers, but I followed everything else as written. Had no problems with runniness, stickiness, etc. I think the trick may be to stir (constantly) with a whisk so that air gets in to the pudding, preventing lumps and allowing it to cool more evenly. I would agree that if you plan to get 18 servings out of this, they will be tiny. I really couldn't see any more than 12.
