The Best Cheeseball

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2009
I have made this cheeseball for several parties now and its always a big hit. We don't care for cilantro, so I just shape it and leave it plain.

Crackers a la Yvette

These are great for parties, gifts or for traveling. I have been making these for years. You can also use the Fiesta Hidden Valley mix for a spicy cracker. My family prefers the fiesta flavoring with extra pepper flakes.

Easy Seven Layer Vegetable Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
I made this layered salad for Thanksgiving with a few changes, because I needed to use what I had on hand. This is how I layered: lettuce, bell pepper, green onion, water chestnuts, english peas, real mayo mixed with (1) tlbs dry Hidden Valley Ranch dressing dip, shredded cheese and real bacon bits. Mine actually turned out to be (8) layers, but it was great. I put it in a trifle bowl and it was great looking too. Everyone raved over it.

For something so simple, this is always good. You can use any dressing that you like, but for me....Ranch is the way to go.

Mock Chicken Fried Steak

I season mine with a packet of the dry onion soup mix. My family likes this. Great for a quick meal on a busy night. Experiment with different seasonings. Serve on Burger Buns or with White Country Gravy. Homemade french fries for your side. Not very healthy, but sometimes you have to splurge...lol

Crab Dip II

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2007
I made this recipe for our Thanksgiving appetizer table. It was great. I did add (1) extra cream cheese, because I increase the crab meat, using 1 lb (we love crab meat). I used fresh picked claw meat and it was well worth the extra $$. I did omit the cheddar cheese, because I didn't want to take away from the taste of the crab meat. I also seasoned with Old Bay seasoning. My family loved it. I also think it would be good using canned crab or shrimp, if you were in a pinch and fresh was not available. Also, I use fat free cream cheese and fat free sour cream and it didn't make a difference in the taste.

Monkey Bread V

GREAT!!! The only thing I changed was I didn't add the extra sugar. I just used what I had left over from coating the bisquits. Big hit with my girl friends. Served with pigs in a blanket, fresh fruit, coffee & juice. We were leaving for a girls only weekend to the beach and I had this all ready when they arrived at 6:00 am. They couldn't believe something so good and pretty, could be so easy to make. They all gave me a "WOO HOO".

Sherbet Shower Surprise

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2007
This recipe can be changed by using different sherbets and using ginger ale or 7up. Sometimes for dessert we just fill a glass with whatever kind of sherbet we have on hand and add ginger ale or 7up. Also good for upset stomachs.....

Momma's Cornbread Dressing

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2007
This is a good basic recipe. I add sauted bell pepper, celery, onion, mushrooms to crumbled corn bread. I also add raw eggs before baking to bind together. I add a small jar of pimentos for color. I add (1) cooked chicken that I have shredded. I also add half a bag of Pepperidge Farms stuffing mix and 4 pieces of toast that is broke up into pieces. I stir several times while it cooks. This is a meal in itself.

I tried this last night. I did omit the sugar and the oil and just used the bacon grease drippings. I even added a can of Rotel at the end of cooking time for a little spice. Turned out great. This will be a keeper for us. Thanks!!!!!
