About this Cook
I've always enjoyed baking and cooking. In my mid-teen years, my mom required that my sister and I cook a meal a week. I wasn't too happy about that chore then, but I am so glad I learned how to cook! Now that I'm married (July 2005), I enjoy trying new recipes out on my husband. He never knows what he'll be having for dinner, but he likes trying new things. Besides cooking, I enjoy playing indoor soccer, reading, hiking and geocaching.
My favorite things to cook
I love making desserts, especially cookies. I also enjoy trying out new dinner recipes that include chicken or ground beef.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Turkey seems to be the traditional dish for all family holiday gatherings. I enjoy making the mashed potatoes and desserts, although sometime I'd like to try making the turkey.
My cooking triumphs
I consider finding a good recipe a cooking triumph. In this respect, a recipe I found for Spinach Beef Spagetti Pie would be considered my greatest triumph. However, I'd also say that once I cook a Thanksgiving turkey and the trimmings by myself - that will be a truimph!
My cooking tragedies
When I was eight or nine years old, I made pancakes for breakfast for my family. I misread the recipe and put in 1 tablespoon of salt instead of 1 teaspoon. It made for some very salty pancakes; needless to say, they ended up in the garbage!

Chicken and Gnocchi Soup
This soup was pretty good though I don't think I'll make it again. I left out the celery and optional ingredients. It makes a lot!

Applesauce Bread
Good bread though not spectacular. I soaked my raisins in hot water for a bit, which makes them plump up. I think I was hoping the bread's spices would make it zing more. I'll try a different recipe next time.

Keon's Slow Cooker Curry Chicken
Good curry though definitely do not use the full two teaspoons of cayenne pepper. I used a half teaspoon and it was plenty hot! I substituted two peeled potatoes for one of the chicken breasts.
