About this Cook
I enjoy cooking when I have the time, and luckily my husband will eat anything I fix - even when it's bad! I'm known for being the "Dessert Lady" since I usually offer to bring the dessert to a party or pot luck. I don't believe in fixing a recipe twice if it's not very good - why waste the calories on bad tasting food?? I also have my own business making mosaic pieces (birdbaths, birdhouses, mirrors, etc.) and do home jewelry parties with beaded jewelry I make myself.
My favorite things to cook
Desserts, any type of baking except for breads with yeast, fried anything - chicken, steak, okra, you name it! I also like more hearty dishes like meat and potatoes and casseroles.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My parents have cooked for many years, even my dad. My grandparents owned a restaurant, and both of my parents are good cooks.
My cooking triumphs
Most desserts - too bad it's not a food group!
My cooking tragedies
I burned some fried chicken one time and my dad still asks when I'm going to make some more of that "Blackened Chicken". Also yeast breads - I'm scared to death of them!! ha ha!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings
Not as good as all the raves - the biscuits didn't cook all the way through, and tasted like canned biscuits (I don't know why I expected something different, but I did).

Spinach Tomato Tortellini
Great recipe with nice flavor - made dish exactly as printed, but so many variations are possible (add meat, more spinach, ravioli, etc.). Delicious!

Raspberry Pie I
Yummy! Husband loves raspberries, and I've made this a couple of times now. I have gone to Costco and bought the raspberries there since they are cheaper and much bigger. Love the pie!
