About this Cook
I didn't enjoy cooking when I was younger at all. It was a chore I did to get food into my belly. When we bought our house, things changed. I had a real kitchen (not an apartment-sized one) to make food in. When we discovered allrecipes.com we started finding and using fabulous recipes. It's so easy to use this site and we both love it! My cooking adventures started then and now I enjoy experimenting with flavours, spices and more!
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking dinner. I don't like baking at all. I love making a really good dinner menu for my husband and I (plus extra's for lunch the next day.) Favorites have been my own version of spinach/feta stuffed chicken (also a favorite of my husband)which is wrapped in tinfoil and barbequed - great camping meal! Anything pork. We eat a lot of pork dinners and love pork tenderloin. Anything savory and delicious!
My favorite family cooking traditions
On Sundays after church, we would pick up fresh pizza dough from a local bakery (and a few pasties to snack on.) We would let the dough sit overnight and expand. The next day for supper, we would roll it out into big pans. My mom would let each of us pick a corner and put whatever toppings on it we wanted! I still love home-made pizza to this day!
My cooking triumphs
Chicken/Feta/Olive Chicken. I made the recipe up myself! It's divine! Homemade Naan bread. My friend tried making this and it turned out blah. I made it to go with her (delicious) curry dinner and it was fabulous!
My cooking tragedies
Anything baked. I just don't have the knack for it. Burned cookies, pie crusts, you name it, I've burned it.

Portobello Mushroom Sauce
This sounds like it should be delicious. When it was finished (pretty easy to make) I tried it and thought 'uh oh...it's not that great'. Once it was on the steaks, though, the flavour somehow complemented the steak wonderfully. My only issue was the port I used was pretty strong, and I probably didn't cook it for long enough, as it was a predominent flavor. It also doesn't keep well with leftovers.

Ultimate Corn Bread
This is an absolutely wonderful receipe -except for one thing...the 9" square baking pan is not big enough. I put it into a larger lasagna baking dish and it fit perfect, no overflow or anything. It is definitely a sweet, cakey dessert-type corn bread - which is exactly what we like! I've made it three times in two weeks!

Amazing Crunchy Tofu Salad
This was absolutely delicious! It was completely filling (even my husband said so!) which never happens when I eat salad for a meal. I don't think I followed the recipe quite right - but it still turned out amazing. I breaded and fried the tofu, removed it from the pan, then added the soya/corn startch mixture to the hot pan so it was quite thick - a good dressing!
