About this Cook
I come from a famiy that likes to cook. My mother and all of her sisters loved to cook. I now have grandchildren who are learning to cook and we have fun "cousins day" when several of the grandchildren get together to cook at Grandma's house.
My favorite things to cook
I like to bake cookies and cakes and lately I am enjoying a streak of cooking homemade soups and chili. I have had many compiments on my soups and find that an easy way to entertain informally.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Big family dinners near Christmas and Thanksgiving. Nieghborhood Brunches and BBQ's.
My cooking triumphs
I won first place with a Creamy White Chili and a Mexican Corn Bread. Most of the recipes I make from this site are good.
My cooking tragedies
I once burned some pudding so badly that the dog wouldn't eat it. I also tried to cut a recipe down to family size for Shoo Fly Pie that was intended for restaraunt use. I couldn't cut the pie with an ax!

Peach Muffins
I made these this morning with fresh, juicy peaches. I only had 1/2 cup oil so I blended peaches to make up the rest and it worked wonderfully. I will probably continue to do it that way as the oil sounded like a lot and I often sub applesauce for part of the oil in recipes. I worked quickly so the peach Purée did not darken. I also found the batter plenty moist to scoop into the muffin tins. I got 26 muffins.

Whipped Cream Cream Cheese Frosting
This was such a success at my Grandaughter's Graduation party. I used it as filling in a 3 layer Banana cake. Because I was using it as filling, I wanted to be sure it would hold up to the weight of the cakes so I added a couple of Tablespoons of instant Banana Flavored pudding to the whipped cream. Very Yummy
