About this Cook
I love to watch Food TV, I've learned a lot from that. As an adult I have spent several years in the foodservice business. My position was administrative, but the opportunities to experience new and innovative cusine prompted me to become a better cook. I have attempeted to do just that. My family rarely complains.......
My favorite things to cook
We are meat and potatoes people, so I try to add things like rice and pasta whenever I can. We also have a freezer full of wild game as we love to hunt.
My favorite family cooking traditions
There are two dishes we had often as children. Sheepherder Spuds, a mix of sliced potatoes, onions, bacon, and enough water over the top to make it's own gravy. Also Carmel Dumplings, sweet dumplings in a rich carmel sauce. I dont' make that one very ofter as it puts everyone of a sugar high....
My cooking triumphs
We live in an area of many ethnic backgrounds. I have listened and learned to make delicious Mexican, Italian, and Basque dishes. Not bad for a ranch kid that grew up on beef and potatoes. Also, mac and cheese from scratch! Nothing like getting back to the basics!
My cooking tragedies
Anything Asian. My ability in that area is a disaster.....

Peanut Noodles
Love this sauce. The first time I followed the recipe exactly. So yummy, and no leftovers. I really liked the sauce, but I'm trying to stay away from pastas so I tried the sauce with stir fry vegetables. It was super yummy, and again no left overs. I had some extra sauce so I froze it for future use. That worked fine to, it freezes well. Great recipe, thanks for sharing!

Sweet Green Bean Bundles
I tried to follow the recipe as close as I could. the only change I made was using frozen green beans from last summer. I took this to a family dinner. Everyone gave a bad time for having too much time because of all the little bundles. However, there were no left overs, I used thin sliced bacon, and broiled it a few minutes before serving. It was a crowd pleaser!
