Ok..I have never blogged before..so this may be terrible. I am from Trenton,NJ and there is (was) a small town called Chambersburg, it's still called that but..it's a bit more scary now if you know what I mean, becoming more "city" like. We have tomato pie places all over, it's not pizza it's… MORE

About this Cook
I am a wonderful mother to seven beautiful cats (: and I love to cook and eat! I work full-time in a office, love the outdoors, nature, animals and gardening. Baking is a favorite of mine, I had an amazing Grandmom that made miracles happen with her baking knowledge. I have learned a lot from her at a very young age just watching and helping. Whatever it was, she was great at it. I have all of her hand written recipes that I cherish with my life, and it feels great that I can make her recipes and have them turn out exactly as if she made them, such great memories. There is nothing more relaxing to me than pouring a glass of wine and getting started in the kitchen. I do cook with wine a lot, but none ever makes it into the food (: To me, the most important things in life are good health and spending precious time with loved ones. Live, Love, Laugh and Eat Often!
My favorite things to cook
I really don't know if I have a favorite. I love making all types of different things. I love making pasta dishes & cooking with many vegetables. I also enjoy grilling anything from meats to fish to mushrooms, whatever. I do enjoy baking very much, cakes and cookies the most.
My favorite family cooking traditions
One that seems to stand out the most is the Christmas cookie marathon. I'm pretty much baking the whole entire month of December. I make about 10 different types of cookies and make dozens and dozens of each one. I love it, although it gets exhausting, but I wouldn't have it any other way (: I really get into holiday's, and enjoy cooking big elaborate spreads, whether it be Easter, or a Halloween party. Sometimes there isn't any reason, but just to make a bunch of good food and celebrate!
My cooking triumphs
Triumph to me is when I attempt making something and succeed. It's a great feeling to see and taste the accomplishment of a great meal, and hearing others enjoy it so much. Fortunately, I get to hear that often (:
My cooking tragedies
I'm happy to say I really don't have that many. There is one that I do remember very well. Several years ago I was going to make a basic fish dinner. Shrimp cocktail for an appetizer, some baked potato wedges, and basic breaded baked flounder fillets. I can't even begin tell you how many times I had made shrimp before, but this time they were like hunks of rubber. The flounder breading tasted stale, what cardboard may taste like, and my potatoes were a soggy horrible mess. It still amazes me to this day how everything turned out so terrible. Everything was so not edible, so I literally threw it out the back door. I believe we ordered out that night, and the night time critters had a fish dinner (:

Halloween Eye of Newt
These were very good and a very cute concept for Halloween! Everyone loved them and they are so very easy. I used a toothpick dipped in liquid red food coloring to make the "veins" for the eyes. I also put some egg mix aside not tinted green to make the pupil. Thanks for sharing this cute idea :)

Broccoli and Sausage Cavatelli
Simply delicious pasta dish! This is quick to prepare but has wonderful flavor, perfect for a busy weeknight. I followed the recipe as written but I added 3T butter to the olive oil mix, only because I prefer some butter in garlic & oil pasta dishes. I also added some sliced roasted red peppers for some color, and they really complimented the dish. I will use this dish often, thanks for sharing :)
