About this Cook
I am an Italian Jew. My mother was italian and cooked with my Jewish grandmother, so I grew up on all kinds of spiced foods that seem out of the ordinary. I knew some simple recipies from my mother, but my boyfriend is picky and isn't much into the italian food that I know how to make, so I started looking on line for recipies. Unfourtantly, I'm in college and have no money or time for preparing large meals, so this site gave me the variaty and accessability I needed to create well cooked meals without too much hassel.
My favorite things to cook
I love pasta. I'm italian, so go figure. However, I've been trying to get off of the carbs and lately have been trying to do a lot of things with chicken. However, my favorite thing is dessert. Especially pies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother, every year, makes her homemade Latke's, which are amazing.
My cooking triumphs
I made an entire thanksgiving dinner for the members of my dorm. And it turned out amazing.
My cooking tragedies
None that I can remember.

Deep Fried Oreos(R)
There is no reason to have oil in the batter and it needs be a lot thicker than the recipie calls for, but other than that, so amazingly simple and good. We also just fried the batter and that was good. The only thing I would add to the batter (besides making it thicker) is vanilla extract to make it sweeter.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes
I added more sugar and found they didn't need syrup. Very good.

Chocolate Trifle
This recipe was very good. I drizzled the brownies in kahluah and added crushed heath bars to the layers, which definitly enhanced the trifle. It was quite heavy and I think I may use chocolate cake insead of brownie next time, but overall, very good
