Pumpkin Pie Bread

Amazing! I used 1 cup of applesauce instead of vegetable oil. I didn't add any water because I used fresh pumpkin puree` instead of canned. Couldn't be better!

Italian Dressing Mix

Love it! I've tried to separate the heavy ingredients from the herbs and measure them out separately. I think it's better to just do it the way the recipe reads. Just right the way it's written.

Old Fashioned Paradise Pumpkin Pie

Next time I'll add a bit more spice. I put the cream cheese mixture in the pie crust and refrigerated it while I mixed up the other two. Came out just right.

I was looking for a recipe that would turn out smooth rounded-top cupcakes. This was the recipe to do that. Unfortunately, it did not win in taste tests. I increased the vanilla by 1/2 tsp. and decreased the salt by 1/4 tsp. It was still too salty (thought I had used salted butter until I remembered this recipe doesn't call for butter). If I make this again I would drop the salt some more and increase the sugar to 1 Cup. They looked lovely and frosted nice and smooth but they didn't taste all that good.

Simple White Cake

The recipe is simple. The taste is exceptional. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I was looking for a more rounded, smooth top to make cupcakes that look like balloons. The tops of these were, as other reviews remarked, gritty looking like cornbread. The tops also broke and cracked when being removed from the pan so I was not able to frost them smoothly. This was the BEST tasting of all my test batches and won hands down in my taste tests. It was just not functional enough for my purposes.

Sour Cream Pound Cake

Phenomenal flavor! I did add 1/2 tsp. of vanilla extract and 1/2 tsp. of butter flavor extract. Will have to adjust the cooking temp/time a bit for my stove next time but I highly recommend this wonderful and simple recipe!

White Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

While there is no question this is a delicious tasting cookie I can't help feel something is incorrect in the directions/ingredients. The dough, without pecans and only 3/4 C. ea of the sugars, was so dry and would not stick together I had to check to be sure I hadn't missed a wet ingredient somewhere. It was so tough I could not use tablespoons but had to roll the dough in my hands to create a round-ish shape. By the end of the second batch I ended up with 2/3 cup oats and chips leftover in the bowl with no dough to hold it together. I could make them again for the taste but I don't feel like trying to figure out what to adjust so I'll just forget this recipe. Thanks anyway.

Banana Pumpkin Bread

Followed JIVE TURKEY's recommendation and split the batter into two loaf pans (plenty of batter for each). Turned the temp up to 375 instead of 350. They both cooked perfectly in 47 minutes.

Sawmill Gravy

Easy, excellent, a classic. I would suggest, however, eliminating the salt from the recipe. The sausage (or the bisquits the gravy will eventally top) typically have plenty of sodium already.

Portobello Pizza

Perhaps I undercooked them but the mushroom was still quite cool, as was the sauce (leftover and taken from the fridge). I ate it out of my hand, like a piece of pizza and may have found it's texture to be better had I used a knife and fork. I shouldn't rate it so low, sounds like I just didn't get it right.

Spicy Pear Cookies

Made these for a Christmas baking buffet. They are a more refined, adult cookie than say a traditional chocolate chip and were very popular. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is they don't travel well (they stick together) and the lemon glaze could be more appealing visually, perhaps make it a bit thicker. Wonderful flavor!
