Cucumber Soup II

This was okay, but the flavors just didn't mix together that well. We ended up throwing it out.

A little messy to make, but these turned out perfectly and pleased my husband who grew up in St. Louis. I used a deep fat fryer instead of the skillet, just because that is my preferred way to fry such things, but otherwise I followed the recipe and they turned out great! Remember to serve them as soon as possible because they don’t reheat terribly well.

Ham Salad Pitas

My husband and I were pleasantly pleased with this recipe. I did like some other reviewers suggested and used half mayo half sour cream, because it seemed like a lot of sour cream to me. I also used half the lemon juice called for and added some relish for sweetness. The relish helped to balance the sourness. As the grapes weren't looking very good in the grocery store I used a green apple instead, and it complemented the ham just as well as the grapes would have. Very tasty and a nice change.

Sun-Dried Tomato and Pesto Cheese Spread

Even though I cut this recipe in half, it still made a ton of cheese spread. I should have made only a quarter of it. I used store bought pesto instead of making it fresh to save some money, but the premade stuff did not have the right green color and didn't look all that appetizing. I found it difficult to spread into layers and if I make it again I will follow others suggestions to just do it in three layers. I found the spread to be quite tasty and my guests loved it. Worth making for holiday parties.

Orange Curry Chicken

This recipe was easy to make but a little on the bland side, even when adding orange slices. It is a good base for a curry chicken recipe though and if I make this again I will add some more spices and flavors. Raisins would also be a good addition.

Almond Crusted Chicken with Tomato Citrus Sauce

This recipe has some different combinations of flavors that sounded interesting, but didn't really work for me. The sauce had an odd flavor and I didn't think it went with the chicken at all. If I make this again I will not make the sauce, the chicken coating is flavorful enough in itself. I will also not fry it on the stovetop again as the chicken turned out really oily (so did the sauce). I think it would be just as good done in the oven as I have a similar recipe that cooks the chicken in the oven at 350 for about 50 minutes.

Skillet Chicken Cordon Bleu

This recipe was easy to make, but it was definitely lacking in the flavor department. If you're going to make this recipe get creative and add some complementary spices. A bit of pepper made it more tasty in our household, but I don't think I will be making this again any time soon.

Ultimate Maple Snickerdoodles

I was pleasantly surprised by these cookies. I didn't have real maple syrup so I just used regular pancake syrup. I also used half brown sugar half white sugar in the dough, but next time I think I will just use white sugar. I can't wait to try them with real syrup. The husband loved them!
